GOP vice presidential nominee Mike Pence said Sunday that his role model for the vice presidency is Dick Cheney.
I frankly hold Dick Cheney in really high regard in his role as vice president and as an American, Pence said in an interview with ABCs This Week that aired Sunday.
Asked if thats the kind of vice president he aspires to be, Pence said he wants to be very active just like Cheney.
Vice President Cheney had experience in Congress as I do and he was very active in working with members of the House and the Senate, he said.
Host Martha Raddatz, however, pointed out that Cheney was often criticized for being too much of a force over the president.
Well I think that what I admire most in vice presidents is when theyre able to take the vision of the president and champion that on Capitol Hill. And I would hope that my relationships over my 12 years in Congress and my four years here as governor of Indiana would help carry Donald Trumps vision to make America great again. To people who would be crafting the legislation to put that into practice, Pence said.
Cheney served under President George W. Bush, during which time Pence served in the House.

Then remind me never to go duck hunting with Mike.
I give Trump credit—he absolutely nailed his VP pick.
Look for the liberals to push the meme that Pence will be a dangerous VP . Since liberals have such disdain for Dick Cheney I expect these comments to be used against Pence and Trump for that reason.
That is a good thing.
Now, someone post the pic of the ways that Cheney can kill you.
Agreed 100%. Cheney was pretty good and it is very insightful for Pence to look at him as a barometer for the VP job. Especially since Trump would lean on Pence heavily to implement his agenda.
Not "disdain" more like fear.
No more Cheneys; thank you.
Works for me.
Cheney was a capable President.

As long as you’re not a lawyer, you’d be perfectly safe..
If that’s the case, he would be unable to choose a better role model. Trump/Pence will contribute to make a shining team. A WINNING team.
I love it. I wonder how many meetings there have been so far between Pence and Cheney, or are scheduled ... :-)
I’m thinking this statement is meant to put nevertrumper’s minds at ease. The ones that think Trump’s a dangerous, loose canon.
Agreed. Cheney is just another tough-talking neocon. As for his accomplishments, I can't think of any except for his talent in annoying liberals. Many say he was the top adviser to W. If that's so, Cheney shares the blame for the quagmires in Afghanistan and Iraq, and for W's failure to stop illegal immigration.

I wholeheartedly agree with Mike Pence — Name a better Vice President and American than Dick Cheney in the last 50, 60, or 100 years, especially immediately following 9/11, right man, right place, right time.
No more Cheneys; thank you.

I agree. Well said.
Cheney is just another tough-talking neocon.
