Bill Clinton told CNBC on Tuesday that activist investors, rather than trade deals, are partially at fault for U.S. corporations moving operations out into Mexico.
GOP presidential hopeful Donald Trump has called for "economic independence" and blamed globalization for "totally" wiping out the American middle class. Trump has previously called NAFTA "the worst trade deal in history" and blamed Bill and Hillary Clinton for endorsing it.

I saw an Quora essay the other day in which a person said that one of the things that makes prison so dangerous is that it is filled with people who are constantly looking for anyone but themselves to blame for why they are there.
“Stakeholder” is Leftist code for “Everyone from the janitor to some homeless guy who lives in town should have an equal say to the shareholders”.
Sure, believe a rapist.
Hmmm....
Whom to believe???
A man who has built over 500 successful businesses and created countless millionaires?
Or the Man with the Blue Dress???
There it is in a nutshell. Leftist "free trade" deals = Marxist redistributionism on a global scale.
You have to admire the silhouette of the bridge he built for the family.. quite a structure.. even if it is missing iron bars and a triple barbed wire fense.. or a safety net for those who jump or get pushed off it.
blaming investors for his own failed economic policy
Dear Mr. Clinton, investors have always been here and always will be here. I am an investor and you (with your socalled ‘foundation’ full of filthy lucre ...are patently a much, much larger investor)
YOUR economics policies should have been designed to work with all of us in mind, investors included
overlooking investors in promulgating an economic policy is like overlooking food in promulgating a nutrition policy
It's common knowledge he changed all the incentives for investors while at the same time removing checks and balances. Even average folks who never bothered with the market realize that until the incentives for executives and stockholders changed things were much different.
In fact, I'd say the democrat fascist cap on what executives can ear, announced with the same "holier than thou" tone this has, there was no where near the pressure on executives to "enhance shareholder value" meaning increase the share price which in many industries could only be done by reducing labor costs by moving overseas.
It wasn't a matter of labor costs here being too high as long as that labor cost ended up back in the consumption end of the equation, it was a matter of companies all trying to match the inflated share prices of manipulated pumped up bubble companies built on nothing but hype and most such companies have yet to turn a profit comes anywhere near justifying their inflated share price.
Good law generally can’t be gamed.
I get so sick and tired of politicians claiming they never foresaw “this or that”. It’s their only job to foresee “this or that”.
A sad fact about liberal politicians is that they don’t recognize that they are the cronies in crony capitalism.
No, I blame you and your wife for giving us NAFTA Slick willy!
“A sad fact about liberal politicians is that they dont recognize that they are the cronies in crony capitalism.”
They know it. Look at their bank accounts for proof.
“I get so sick and tired of politicians claiming they never foresaw this or that. Its their only job to foresee this or that.”
Exactly as it’s part of the job enacting law. If one can’t look at everything that will be touched by the ripple effect of the law, then refrain from creating the law until one can. A bad law is worse than none.
I agree.
They could learn a lot from the moto of the medical profession.
DO NO HARM
Dear Slick Willy, I removed all the lies, and replaced them with facts. All the best....Henchster
would it be an issue of there was no NAFTA? moron
Well if they vote on laws without ever READING them, they surely don’t think through the long-term ramifications before they do.
No blame NAFTA and you Billy Jeff.
Yes, and that was quite evident in the Obamacare law (ACA) the Democrats forced through, but that’s another matter. We are talking process of the creation of law here, not the failure of political party law.
I imagine FReepers could together write a book.
Seems to me the Democrat Party could be held responsible, thus sued in court of law for that, but again another matter.
