Post-debate, Clinton takes the lead
CNN ^ | 10/3/2016 | Jennifer Agiesta, CNN Polling Director

(CNN)Hillary Clinton emerges from the first presidential debate with a five-point lead over Donald Trump in the race for the presidency, having narrowed the enthusiasm gap between her supporters and Trump's, and holding broad advantages over the Republican nominee as the candidate with the right temperament and preparation for the job, according to a new CNN/ORC poll.

The survey finds Clinton topping Trump 47% to 42% among likely voters with Libertarian nominee Gary Johnson at 7% and Green Party nominee Jill Stein at 2%. Clinton's boost in the race stems largely from gains on Trump among men (from a 22-point deficit with that group in early September to just a 5-point one now) and sharply increased support from independents, who broke heavily in Trump's favor in the early September poll but now tilt Clinton, 44% to 37%.

A shift from last month when Trump lead as of the week of September 1st.

But the sample this time around is strikingly different from last month. I’m not sure what to make of it other than the fact that Independents are now going to Clinton and in this months poll CNN upped the amount of Independents by 9% and a much bigger sample size this month.

10/3/16 Clinton 47% Trump 42%

9/4/2016 Trump 45% Clinton

A total of 1,501 October/ 1001 September adults were interviewed by telephone nationwide by live interviewers calling both landline and cell phones.

Democrats 27% October / 32% September

Republican 24% October / 28 % September

Independents or others 49% October / 40% September

An announcement which was planned to be made from the start of the campaign.

CNN is just a Democrat shill.

And it took them a full week to spin the numbers, eh?

I laugh at them.

I got a breaking news flash from FoxNews saying this the other day.

Didn’t believe them either.

My guess is that Fox will lose plenty of viewers when this election season is over. Outside of FBN this is the only place I can trust anymore.

This tells you how fluid it is. People are undecided and literally seem to flip back and forth based on negative media coverage. I don’t know how people can flip back and forth so easily as the candidates have completely different visions.

“This tells you how fluid it is.”

No, this tells you something anyone with a brain knew, that after the Debate, the propagandist arm of Globalist Corporate USA, would fix the polls to show her ahead.

I'd like to see things keep moving. I'm happy with the LA Times/USC poll, but it's only one poll. (And I can't say I understand its methodology.

The internals of that one have Trump ahead in all age groups, and winning 35-75K and over 75K, but losing Under 35K by a wide margin (big shock, that, right?)

The other thing I don't understand is if he's winning men by 16% and losing women by only 6%, how is his lead in the poll only around 6%. Women represent 52-53% of the vote, but it should tip the deficit so far.

And, as usual, the "perception" poll has Trump down. UGH!

The media is winning. I’m in a horrible mood now. If she wins we will never have another trump...just more jeb types. Everyone arm yourselves they’ll be coming to our doors in years to come.

No demographics (D/R/I) splits listed in the poll. For all we know, they polled Clinton Campaign Headquarters. I suspect this is unpublished because the D/R/I breakdown they needed to obtain this result was embarrassing to Hillary.

I have no idea of the “real” numbers but let’s face it Trump has not controlled the narrative for two weeks. I know there are unfair reasons for that but life is unfair. I think Trump needed to counterattack.
