Doug Baldwin, the Seattle Seahawks wide receiver who led the teams quest to find a unified way to protest police brutality against minorities, claimed that some owners have taken a stand and told players to do certain things, which I think is egregious in an interview with HBOs Bill Simmons.
NFL ownership is overwhelmingly white; more than half the players in the league are black. Increasingly over the last few years, players have sought to express themselves, especially after police shootings of unarmed black men. The national-anthem protests, though, take place during the highly visible pregame ceremonies.
Theres been owners that have told their players to do specific things or to not do specific things
regarding the national anthem and the protests, Baldwin told Simmons on Any Given Wednesday. The one quote that I was informed of was, Youre going to stand on the line with your hand on your heart and youre going to sing the national anthem because this is my stage.

Wish I knew what owner he was talking about (so I could call and thank him).
Really...there is a lot to do in life other than sit and watch these highly paid, unpatriotic losers. Maybe watch agaion after they cut the PC BS.
Dallas Cowboy owner. Jerry Jones.
You mean the owner that pays your check every week expects you to comport yourself a certain way? How shocking.
“...claimed that some owners have taken a stand and told players to do certain things, which I think is egregious
In keeping with every employer on the planet.
Every distinctly US institution is falling apart.
I should have said “American” Institution.
Oh - you would be referring to the whole, "You choose to work for me, you do what I say" thing?
Actually I want all of the players to express themselves—so we know which teams to boycott!
Exactly. It goes something like this:
“I’m paying you a very high salary to do a job. You work for me and will abide by my standards. If you do not then you will be fired. Period.”
I’m betting Jerry Jones is one..............
You protest on your own time and in your own place....not on company time and in a company uniform.
Seems BLM insists on crapping in their own nests and biting the hands that feed them. Fools.
Past tense of a sexual act, usually regarded as an obscenity.
“NFL ownership is overwhelmingly white”
And most are unpatriotic gutless wonders as well.
Im paying you a very high salary to do a job. You work for me and will abide by my standards. If you do not then you will be fired. Period...
What a concept!
Egregious? Doug Baldwin can’t even spell the word much less think of it himself.
I wonder which white guy wrote this for him to recite?
And since when does an employee have the right to say whatever he wants when the result is damage to the business owned by his employer?
If you are willing to wear pink socks during October, you should be willing to stand for the National Anthem.
Seems easy for an owner:
“You get paid to play football. I make money when you play football. We will both make less money when you ‘express yourself’ on the field rather than just play football. If you would rather ‘express yourself’ on my time you will not play football because it costs me money which will cost you money. What kind of contract do you think you’ll get when our contract runs out if you’ve been on IR without practice or game time from now til then?”
Make sure the agent (who understands his cut) is at the meeting to explain what that means.
The fans are the ones who pay the players’ salaries. The owner of the team simply passes on what he or she thinks that particular player is worth to the team.
The fans buy the tickets.
The fans buy the merchandise.
The fans buy the advertisers’ products.
Without the fans, there is no money to pay the salaries.
Don’t piss off the fans................
