DENVER – The U.S. Attorney's Office in Colorado has declined to prosecute an employee of the Environmental Protection Agency over a massive mine wastewater spill that fouled rivers in three states, federal investigators said Wednesday.

The EPA's Office of Inspector General disclosed that it had found evidence the unnamed employee may have violated the Clean Water Act and given false statements.

However, office spokesman Jeffrey Lagda says federal prosecutors declined to pursue the case. He says that in lieu of prosecution, the case will be sent to senior EPA management for review.

More government corruption, if this was an average citizen that did all this damage they would be in jail.

Anyone still thinking that the entire submit is not corrupt?

I have turned from one almost completely trusting in them to one who realizes that the bottom of the septic tank has been pumped to EVERY agency.

Yes, CW-II will come, probably within my lifetime.

I really, really hope that we are prepared to storm the Bastille and appropriately process the Hell King, Michelle Antoinette, and EVERY submit low achiever that has been leaching from the useful products made by those of us who actually had ability and talent.

I will happily volunteer to be the lever pusher on our newly constructed, digitally controlled, and never need sharpening guillotines.

Back in the pre-1776 colonies the Crown was routinely giving Crown employees a pass for many transgressions while prosecuting unruly colonists.

Disturb one mud puddle in a “wetlands” area and your life is ruined. Seriously.

What is worse is the very expansive view of what defines 'wetlands' and the effort to keep expanding it!

When one federal agency fines another federal agency,
what difference does it make?
I know of instances where this has happened.

Well sure.

But if you throw away a mercury laden CFL, they’ll send SWAT to your door and shoot your dogs and rape your wife, or you.

If an average citizen makes a goldfish pond on their own land, they will be prosecuted to the fullest extent.

Yup - I have a relative who works with mitigating/restoring wetlands & wetland banks so I am familiar with the issues.

Oh good, the same IDIOTS who believed EPA employee John Beal worked for the CIA.

Beale, 65, admitted in September that he had skipped out on work for years by telling a series of supervisors, including top officials in EPA’s Office of Air and Radiation, that he was doing top-secret work for the CIA.

He was paid for a total of 2 ½ years of work he did not perform since early 2000 and received about $500,000 in bonuses he did not deserve, according to his plea agreement.

Lack of accountability by public officials at all levels is destroying this country.

If those at the top are lawless why would the little guy be any different.
