Subject: Fundamental flaw

Dear John,

Ted Cruz's super PAC just poured $2.5 million into ad buys in Iowa and South Carolina.

Sounds scary, right?

Well, it is and it isn't.

$2.5M is certainly a lot of money, but super PACs have to pay exorbitant charges for TV ad time compared to real campaigns, and they can't coordinate with the campaigns on messaging. Which means that a real campaign could make the same impact for a whole lot less -- that's super PAC's fundamental flaw.

Democrats fundraising through ActBlue don't need $2.5 million in expendable cash, they just need a few thousand small-dollar donors like you who are willing to chip in to fuel their campaign.

Will you chip in $15 a month so we can scale up our tools to handle even more small-dollar donations in 2016 and help Democrats beat back the super PACs?

Because you've saved your payment information with ActBlue Express, your donation will go through immediately:

Express Donate: $15 a month [ https://secure.actblue.com/contribute/page/expendable?express_lane=true&amount=15&recurring=true&refcode=rec_shi_a&refcode2=15_t ]

Express Donate: $25 a month [ https://secure.actblue.com/contribute/page/expendable?express_lane=true&amount=25&recurring=true&refcode=rec_shi_a&refcode2=25_t ]

Express Donate: $50 a month [ https://secure.actblue.com/contribute/page/expendable?express_lane=true&amount=50&recurring=true&refcode=rec_shi_a&refcode2=50_t ]

Express Donate: $100 a month [ https://secure.actblue.com/contribute/page/expendable?express_lane=true&amount=100&recurring=true&refcode=rec_shi_a&refcode2=100_t ]

Or donate another amount [ https://secure.actblue.com/contribute/page/expendable?amount=15&recurring=true&refcode=rec_shi_a&refcode2=x_t ]

So, if small-dollar fundraising is so effective, why aren't Republicans imitating us?

For starters, grassroots fundraising is hard work, and they don't have the infrastructure that ActBlue has created for Democrats.

But running a small-dollar donor-funded campaign also means being accountable to all of your supporters, not just the ones writing massive checks.

Ted Cruz's message resonate with billionaires trying to buy up political power. And he seems more than happy to be in the pocket of big-dollar donors if it means he has money to fuel his campaign.

At ActBlue, we're working to make sure Democrats have the resources they need to go toe-to-toe with these billionaire-funded Republicans -- and win. That means scaling up our tools to handle millions of small-dollar donations.

Will you chip in $15 a month to help Democrats build people-powered, winning campaigns in 2016?

Because you've saved your payment information with ActBlue Express, your donation will go through immediately: Express Donate: $15 a month [ https://secure.actblue.com/contribute/page/expendable?express_lane=true&amount=15&recurring=true&refcode=rec_shi_a&refcode2=15_b ]

Express Donate: $25 a month [ https://secure.actblue.com/contribute/page/expendable?express_lane=true&amount=25&recurring=true&refcode=rec_shi_a&refcode2=25_b ]

Express Donate: $50 a month [ https://secure.actblue.com/contribute/page/expendable?express_lane=true&amount=50&recurring=true&refcode=rec_shi_a&refcode2=50_b ]

Express Donate: $100 a month [ https://secure.actblue.com/contribute/page/expendable?express_lane=true&amount=100&recurring=true&refcode=rec_shi_a&refcode2=100_b ]

Or donate another amount [ https://secure.actblue.com/contribute/page/expendable?amount=15&recurring=true&refcode=rec_shi_a&refcode2=x_b ]

From all of us at ActBlue, thanks.

Why don't the Republicans ever do anything like this?

Because they're:

1. Incredibly stupid, and

2. They're complicit. The uniparty is real.
