It's not a story out of the Soviet Union though Oleg Atbashian, an artist, activist and commentator, had gotten in trouble for defying the authorities there too.
"Back in my Soviet dissident days, when I was collecting signatures in defense of Andrei Sakharov, I was screamed at, threatened, and lectured by the KGB and Communist funcionaries. What I never imagined was that in the United States, the land of the free, I would not only be subjected to similar treatment, but go to jail," Oleg writes.
But that's exactly what happened to him...

Love Oleg.
He’s the best!
The campus police Nazis need to be arrested by the county sheriff for restricting the artist’s 1st amendment rights.
If you'd like to be on or off, please FR mail me.

I can't imagine he committed a felony, but if the school doesn't want posters on their signs or walls, seems like that's their prerogative. This doesn't appear to be about the content of posters. Or 1st amendment rights.
If I was the university groundskeeper (or whatever it’s called) I would be pissed off about a poster being glued to the university entrance sign, whether it was anti-terrorist or pro-”black lives matter”.
Although, in the latter case, it might not be safe for me to complain.
In the latter case there’d be no charges.
