I demand sanctuary Harris-Teeter grocery stores and Advance Auto Parts stores. Why not? The government is, after all, only there to oppress the ignorant masses.

President-elect Donald Trump made enforcement of immigration laws a touchstone, a position that was popular among many voters but leaves college officials deeply concerned about immigrant students who were admitted because of their academic achievement and potential.

No, they were mostly admitted in tribute to the currently fashionable gods of diversity.

This is quite easily fixed.

In addition to cutting federal funding the State Department can simply stop issuing F-1 student visas to any immigrant students attending those university.

That's probably 70% of their budget. Stupid libs never think things through.

Their compassion doesn’t go far enough. All college campuses should be sanctuaries for any illegal, student or not. Seven or eight illegals sharing a dorm room with students. The mental picture of that brings a tear to my eye.

Once the campus turns into a tent city and the women get gang raped, I bet they reconsider their position.

The students pushing for these “sanctuary universities” will likely have rights to take classes on the taxpayer dime for many years. See https://www.bop.gov/inmates/custody_and_care/education.jsp for more on this for when they may become inmates due to being convicted of felonies.

It seems like they are being in reckless disregard of the fact that certain aliens have come to, entered, or remained in the United States in violation of law and they are attempting to conceal, harbor, or shield from detection, such aliens in any place, including any building or any means of transportation, at their universities. It sounds like that for each person they wish to conceal that they can be fined and/or imprisoned up to 5 years. When someone is convicted of a fine where they can be sentenced to less than five years but more than one year, it is typically classified as a Class E felony. In such circumstances the fines could be up to $250K per offense.

On all this they should first consult an attorney and be well-aware that these snowflakes are putting themselves in hot water legally. I’m no attorney and claim to have no expertise on any of this.

8 U.S. Code § 1324 (a)(1)(A)(iii) - knowing or in reckless disregard of the fact that an alien has come to, entered, or remains in the United States in violation of law, conceals, harbors, or shields from detection, or attempts to conceal, harbor, or shield from detection, such alien in any place, including any building or any means of transportation

8 U.S. Code § 1324 (a)(1)(B)(ii) - A person who violates subparagraph (A) shall, for each alien in respect to whom such a violation occurs .... in the case of a violation of subparagraph (A)(ii), (iii), (iv), or (v)(II), be fined under title 18, imprisoned not more than 5 years, or both;

18 U.S. Code § 3559 (a)(5) An offense that is not specifically classified by a letter grade in the section defining it, is classified if the maximum term of imprisonment authorized is ... less than five years but more than one year, as a Class E felony

18 U.S. Code § 3571 (b)(3) A defendant who has been found guilty of an offense may be sentenced to pay a fine ... Except as provided in [special exceptions], an individual who has been found guilty of an offense may be fined not more than the greatest of ... for a felony, not more than $250,000

18 U.S. Code § 3571 (c)(3) A defendant who has been found guilty of an offense may be sentenced to pay a fine ... Except as provided in [special exceptions], an organization that has been found guilty of an offense may be fined not more than the greatest of ... for a felony, not more than $500,000

“A group of students and faculty at Ivy League schools are petitioning to make their universities into similar sanctuaries..”

I’ve got the solution: Give them each a good swift kick in the ass. If they can’t figure out why they got a good swift kick in the ass, give them another good swift kick in the ass.

Repeat all damn day if needed.

Sure, but only if we as taxpayers get “sanctuary” from sending a penning of public money to these Utopian madhouses.

Exactly ... no student loans for any students at any university that disobeys Federal Law. I am pretty sure that would get their attention.

Personally I think it’s a great idea. Have all the illegals move to these universities where they can “camp out” on campus and, when the weather gets colder, occupy the classrooms. Have to believe everyone will love it.

Even better idea...let them have “sanctuary universities” and after most of the illegals go there, round ‘em up and ship ‘em over the wall.

By bother wasting taxpayer money looking for them?

Great idea.

No more grant funding, though.

No, they won't - but five minutes after the first NIH check fails to arrive, it will end.
