When I was a youngster, I wrote a letter to then President Richard Nixon. Months later, after forgetting about it, I received an envelope in the mail with the White House return address that contained a short typewritten thank you letter, and a signed business card with Richard Nixon's signature. Needless to say, I was tickled to death. The letter and card has long since disappeared from my personal possessions.
