Austria’s Worried Jews Pray Far Right Will Fail To Win Presidency Holocaust survivor among those warning against voting for Norbert Hofer of the Freedom party

As Austrians vote for their next president on Sunday, many will be cheering on Norbert Hofer, the rightwing populist, in the belief that he represents a break with his party’s national socialist roots.
With a boyish smile and six years of experience as a rhetoric coach, Hofer has used the year-long election campaign to present himself as the respectable face of the Freedom party (FPÖ), which in the 1990s still praised the “proper labour policies” of Adolf Hitler.
But not everyone is convinced by Hofer’s transformation. Last week the leader of Austria’s Jewish community took the unprecedented step of endorsing a candidate. Hofer’s opponent, Alexander Van der Bellen, a former Green party leader running as an independent, was “not the lesser of two evils” but “the better candidate and a friend of the Jewish community and Israel for many decades”, said Oskar Deutsch, president of the Jewish Communities of Austria (IKG), which represents about 15,000 Jews.
In a Facebook post, Deutsch argued that Austria needed a president who stood up to “anti-Zionist, anti-American, anti-whatsoever” tendencies on the left and the right, “not one who directly or indirectly gives them a boost with polarising comments”.
An 89-year-old Holocaust survivor also recently approached the liberal academic’s camp saying she wanted to make an appeal. In the resulting viral video, “Gertrude” said what worried her most about the Freedom party’s politics was that they brought out “the basest in people – not the decent, but the indecent” – adding “and it’s not the first time something like this has happened”

This article is confusing. If the guy is a socialist, then he is not “far-right.”
They prayed for the right to lose in the U.S. too.
The Left in the U.S. supports every enemy of the Jews.

Europe’s rise of Muslims should be of far great worry to its Jews than a President who wants to put Austria first and stop Muslim migration.

I’m Jewish and lost half my family in the Holocaust/Shoah. I hope that the nationalist Austrian guy wins, it’s needed to save Western civilization.
The irony is that they are worried about pretty much the only folks in Eirope who will try to resist importing Islam. Sometimes you only have choices between what sucks less.

Muslims are in control in several Austrian cities, just like what has happened in the Netherlands, France, England, and Sweden. Mosques are sprouting up in every street corner courtesy of Saudi Arabian money.
“Right” and “left” don’t mean the same things over there.
Any white who doesn’t want his country’s borders erased or see every white majority nation on earth become non-white must be destroyed. Only whites must allow themselves to be disenfranchised in their own countries. They can have no nations of their own, because whites are the source of all evil according to leftists. Jewish leftists in particular believe that.
I can't claim any special wisdom (or experience) in this issue but although there are some whackjob Europeans still around I think they're very few and very,very powerless.Western and Central Europe's real enemy is the Religion of Pieces...a problem greatly worsened by an East German...Frau Merkel.
The only way anything even remotely resembling the 30's/40's could happen in Europe today is if moslems somehow gained substantial powers (or numbers) there.

“Liberal” doesn’t mean the same thing in Europe. Over there it means free economy and is actually more right wing. Over here it’s an intentional misnomer designed to hide the true agenda of the totalitarians which is in truth the opposite of “liberal”. Well, liberal use of death squads maybe.
So much stupidity in one headline. What Jews have to fear is the sort of people that the mainstream parties want to fill Europe with.

The left in America and I guess Europe is always hypocritical about Islam, they get their heartstrings pulled about immigrants and respecting other races/cultures but fail to see they have zero in common. Do they really want an influx of religious conservatives?
