Inspired by advocacy and social justice, a mom-of-two leads by example
With a devotion to womens and childrens health and safety issues, Jennifer Tapper, 37, finds Washington the ideal place in which to raise her family.
With all its passionate people trying to improve the world, and those policymakers who have the power to do so, its one of the reasons I love living in this town, says Tapper, mom to Alice, seven, and Jack, four. When shes not home in Northwest DC with her kids, Tapper works as an advocacy consultant, sharing knowledge from her early professional years as a social worker. I also volunteer with AmeriCorps reading partners program, helping first- and second-graders to read, she says. That time every week allows me to understand that people need each other, and the most important thing we can do every day is to be kind.
That attitude lets Tapper maintain a dont sweat the small stuff perspective, an approach that serves her well with her kids. Time is short and sweet, and I want their heads to be filled with happy memories and a calm and purposeful existence, says Tapper, who aspires to teach kids at a Montessori school. I hope to guide my children, but also let them learn things on their own.
Helping her along the way is her husband, Jake Tapper, host of CNNs The Lead, and anchor for the news network. Its clear their family bond is strong, but Tapper never overlooks the parenting assistance of other supporters: I also rely heavily on the advice of [televisions] Supernanny, my own mother, and my mom friends, because they are the real experts.
Tapper is one of those women who can rattle off a funny anecdote without missing a beat, and with the wise undertone of having learned a thing or two the hard way. Despite what I heard from one particular public-radio report about the benefits for children of the game Minecraft, it should be avoided, she laughs. Board games are always better than an iPad; sitting down to dinner together is a must, no matter what grownup stuff is going on.
This Is 40 and Sense and Sensibility.

Who writes fawning, cloying articles like this?
And who the heck are they writing to?
A quintessential example of one common type of Fake News. (LSM interview of another LSM member)
Or cite a poll their news organization sponsored.
It’s obvious Jake Tapper is on “the inside”.
I pointed this out years ago. Then some FReeper told me Tapper was the only one who asked the “hard” questions.
I just rolled my eyes. Been watching the fawning for far too long.
The Washingtonian is a liberal elitist D.C. magazine. People read it to see who is mentioned in articles with hopes of a mention someday.
What did tapper’s old lady think of the pictures on the wall and the dirty writings in the bathroom at the ped o phil’s pizza??
I went to comet ping pong several times over the years before this mess started, sorry but they do have the best pizza in the dc area...and you can play ping pong!
I heard they have special tables where you can play with yourself.
If it’s good pizza, why did barry davis soetoro fly in $65K of pizza and hot dogs from chicago.
I stopped reading at: “Inspired by advocacy and social justice...”
bucks camping is connected to the same owner.
I often wonder who are the judges of "social justice". Al Sharpton? Clarence Thomas? Michael Moore? Rush Limbaugh? Ruth Commie Ginsberg? Eric Trump? Chelsea Hubbel-Clinton? Charles Barkeley?
Interesting, but see no cite showing the source. For instance, the article just launches into the Mom Code section without prefacing it saying they site her as saying... or info from...
Could just be disinf to distract from the real news on PizzaGate and the bigger picture
Two words. Deep dish.
And Besta Pizza is owned by Uptown Pizza - registered agent for uptown pizza is Andrew Kline
Andrew Kline is a bill clointon’s appt for Human Trafficing Prosecution attorney. What would a lawyer for Human Trafficing Prosecution be doing affiliated with a restaurant who’s menu is covered with pedophilia symbols?
Probably because Chicago has their own styles of both
GREAT POINT!!!!! Pretty sure they DIDN’T fly in $65,000.00 worth of “pizza” and hot dogs!!! Does Hot Dogs have a Pedo double meaning??
