"How about a tail-hook/carrier-qualled A10B? Navy and Marine pilots could really "project power" with such a new version, n'est ce pas?" Indeed...an excellent point. Instead of having the Marines try to turn the Osprey into a Warthog as is apparently now being attempted.

I went to the NCO Academy at Charleston AFB in 1985. Charleston was a MAC base and at that time had C-141s, and we also had a bunch of guys from Dover AFB, flying C-5s. There were a lot of loadmasters and flight engineers in the class.
Everyone had at least one Air Medal, several had several, one guy (my room mate—an FE) had a silver oak leaf cluster on his (5 awards). He said he got 3 of these just because they had an engine go out, but were still able to land it.
I ask him “Why was that such an accomplishment, considering the alternatives?” He didn’t know, but the extra points for promotion made him happy.

Calendar?? Ladder maybe? A 'hog pilot once told me that drivers of other CAS and air superiority aircraft joke with him about the A-10 not having a normal airspeed indicator. It uses a calendar.

Aaah moment. That is funny!!
They don't use mach numbers, they measure airspeed as faster than the speed of still.

You cant go home again. BS. Give an A-10 to the Chinese, and they'll turn out a perfect copy of that baby in two years.
So could we.

How’s your Cobal? Please apply for lead coder. I’m sure your Fortan is equaly excellent.
The Chinese copy would be perfect until it tried to take off and then it would fall apart ...

The Chinese copy would be perfect until it tried to take off and then it would fall apart. It's an airplane, friend - not an advanced spacecraft from another world.
We already know and understand the design and manufacturing processes required to produce the A-10, even if we have to do it from scratch.
Even better, we have existing units to use as models.
