Didn’t Obama previously deny Poland the Patriot defense system against potential Russian aggression?

Yes, he tried that to appease Putin. Putin played him. He wants to play all of the Americans and get his way. He thinks a few nice words matter more than his deeds.

“They are part of President Barack Obama’s response to reassure Nato allies concerned about a more aggressive Russia.” - This is the bs excuse for sending the troops. The real reason is - “Is this setting the stage for a conflict with Russia?” Obama is doing everything he can to provoke Russia. The expulsion of diplomats and economic sanctions can be laughed off, but more serious cyber attacks cannot. If we are involved in a conflict with Russia, how can Donald Trump be sworn in? Everyone knows the Russians put him in. He may even be KGB. The left will do anything to prevent him from being sworn in. If he gets in a lot of people are going to jail.

They move armies around to make political problems for Trump.

The Democrats don’t use US troops for real fighting. They use their usual Democrat ground troops, al qaeda, for that. US troops are political chess pieces.

It’s beyond absurd to protect Poland from the Russians. Lech Walesa made them wish they never stepped foot in Poland. Why isn’t Obama moving the troops to Crimea?

Ukraine had 29% Russian speakers in the country and they were all in the area that Russia annexed. Poland has 0.1% Russian speakers. That is from wikipedia https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Geographical_distribution_of_Russian_speakers

Estonia and Latvia would be more susceptible targets with 29.6% and 33.8% Russian speakers respectively. Poland has almost zero Russian speakers. %0.1. No Russian allies there. Pure political maneuvering.

Even a broken clock is right once a day. This is perhaps one of the very few things that Obamna has done right, but a little late.

The Baltic states are at risk to Russian annexation. We need to ramp up NATO presence in Poland big league.

No the Baltic countries of Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania were invaded by Russia in 1941...

they are not friends of Russia and have Russian speaking people mainly because the “white Russians” fled there during the Russian Revolution, 1917...

Demographic russification of the Baltic countries started in the late 19th century under tsarist rule and was ramped up under the Soviets when they occupied the area. Most actual “white emigrés” who remained there, were caught, deported and killed by the Soviets in 1941 and 1944/45.

I disagree. Defending Poland is something we should do. We sold the Poles into 45 years of Soviet Slavery after WW2. We owe them big time.

And that’s coming from the guy most often called a Russian KGB operative by the Neo-Cons around here. Russia has a legitimate sphere of influence but it doesn’t include Poland.

“Ukraine had 29% Russian speakers in the country and they were all in the area that Russia annexed. Poland has 0.1% Russian speakers.”

Even though you’re right, the Neocons here won’t accept it.

The bottom line, which I’m sure you know, is to to have a CREDIBLE defense in Poland and the Baltics against a Russia that wants to invade would require a standing army of 500,000 American troops are so, which would mean basically every ground troop we have. Otherwise, Russia will be able to roll over whatever we station there. Heck, we have 40,000 in Korea and everyone knows it’s just a tripwire to buy time if the Norks invade...and that’s against a backwards country that is one tenth the size of Russia.

Bottom line is that if Russia wants to invade Poland, Russia WILL invade Poland - we simply do not have a conventional military with near the deterrent capability to stop them.

The question then becomes - what’s making people (Obama and the Neocons) so convinced that Russia will invade Poland?

America has approx. 15-20% Spanish speaking citizens. At what point do we become vulnerable to invasion by Spain/Mexico/Hispanic countries in general, based on using this language criteria as a basis for "invasion?"

In fact, it has been said America has more Spanish speaking citizens than Spain itself...

Done right? A single armored brigade in a very advance position is joke even as trip-wires go.>>>>>>>>>>>> Agreed. They are the advance group. We have to get them up to speed speaking Polish and then we can insert the other 200 thousand troops back into NATO FOBs across Europe. And the enemy is not only Russia. Its also the Islamic refugee hoards who will have to be converted to civilization, or deported to the Levant. Going to be a big league job. Meanwhile: Tymczasem Obama i jego międzynarodowa choom gang próbuje zorganizować upadek Hiszpanii, którzy będą pytać my dla wojsk NATO wkrótce. It will soon be big business for NATO.

Don't you think you're using "intervention" in an equivocal manner, when US "intervention" consisted of NGO's (some government supported) pushing for democratic reforms in Ukraine, while Russian "intervention" consisted of invasion by Russia's armed forces?

I still can't understand the bromance with Putin on FR: I detest Obama as much as anyone here, but not so much that I will embrace my country's enemies (especially Mordor on the Moskva) simply to oppose Obama.

The Russians can't even roll over the Ukrainian army. They have (maybe) 5 - 10 properly equipped and trained armored brigades.

Ok, I am using intervention equally. But did Putin’s “invasion” cause a regime change? And also consider the distance from the US to Ukraine.

I’m not sure about a bromance, but I do have a non-intervention perspective.
