Donald Trump can’t make the (serious but unverified) Russia scandal go away
PMSNBC ^ | 2017-01-13 | Steve Benen

The scandal surrounding Russia’s intervention in the U.S. presidential election has, broadly speaking, come in three phases.

The first broke during the campaign itself. Around the time Donald Trump publicly urged Russia to commit illegal acts of cyber-espionage to help his candidacy, multiple reports came to light suggesting Russian officials were, in fact, trying to boost the Republican. Trump, when he wasn’t praising Putin, dismissed the allegations, and much of the political world focused instead on Hillary Clinton’s email server protocols.

The second phase unfolded soon after Election Day, when 17 U.S. intelligence agencies reached a consensus: Russia did launch an espionage operation; officials working at Putin’s behest did subvert our democracy; and Russia was motivated in part by a desire to help put Trump in the White House.

As recently as a month ago, the president elect rejected the findings as “ridiculous.” As recently as a few days ago, however, practically everyone in Trump World now accepts the U.S. intelligence consensus.

If we stopped here and went no further, we’d still have one of the most important campaign stories in American history. It’s an almost unimaginable crime: a foreign adversary provided clandestine assistance to a presidential candidate, creating a dynamic in which the next leader of the free world managed to reach the office thanks in part to foreign espionage.

Evidently state-controlled propaganda-media is having a contest to see who can publish the most fake news.

But in one thing the story is true. Trump will never be able to make the story go away. The Democrats and the media will cling to it through his entire term and comfort themselves by saying “He’s not really a legitimate president you know.”

Dumb question:

What allegedly was Trump’s end game with the peeing hookers?

Did he want the maid to think he’d wet the bed?

The whole thing is ridiculous.

Nobody cares and the Dems and MSM (I am being redundant) can’t stand it.

Nobody cares. Period.

The only thing apparent to me among all this fake news is that it does appear, as Trump concedes, that Russia did hack the DNC.

So the first question is what is our appropriate response to that in regards to Russia?

I think I have the answer from Tucker on the second question and that is why Russia opposed Hillary. Hillary, along with the CIA, was even more hell bent on removing Assad, even up to the point of challenging Russia by enacting a no fly zone. Unless there some other element that I am missing - the only thing connecting Hillary to Russia was her insistence on opposing Assad. Was that enough for the Russians to go out of their way and hack the DNC?

I predict when the story will start to significantly fade: Jan 21.

The media can’t make the November presidential election results go away by crying about this either.

The Left can't accept it lost so it has invented a fantastic deus ex machina to explain it away.

If its not Trump's fault, its Russia's or whoever else you want to blame for the Democrats' loss.

They're the innocent victim here. That's how they look at it.

Donald Trump can’t make the (serious but unverified) Russia scandal go away

______________________________

WHY would he want to? Trump has PWND the media idiots and all leftist idiots over this fake news “scandal”

His presser from the other day where he verbally kicked Buzzfeed (CNN) in the balls was EPIC!

But Trump is a gracious guy. He will let this “Russian Scandal” BS fade away.

But he will start kicking ass again the next time the whores in the media start in with another fake news event.

The only thing apparent to me among all this fake news is that it does appear, as Trump concedes, that Russia did hack the DNC.

And the NSA hacks EVERYBODY, including Russia.

Do you see a dilemma here?

Well the only scandal is lies spread around as an intelligence report.
And of course the media and celebrities on social media won’t stfu about it because they’re unhinged since DJT won. People out here in the world who want border control, less wars, and better job growth for middle class don’t really GAF. How many times do these cable news channels with hardly any ratings keep harping on the same crap because they’re pissed DJT won?
So yea in THEIR world it’ll never go away, they’ll never stop about it. Most everyone else has moved on already.

I wish he would turn this around by saying well, it looks like they hacked the DNC, but no one seems a tad concerned about the information that was hacked and released. It shows many potential violations of federal law.

So what?

Even the Left hasn’t shown the hacked emails were fake.

It all came from the DNC/Hillary campaign.

Its Trump’s fault for taking advantage of it.

From The Telegraph Jan. 11:

[For months, (Steele) had been playing a dangerous game; tipping off journalists about what he said he had discovered from his sources in Russia about Donald Trump’s alleged dealings with the Kremlin, as well as claims that the FSB had hugely compromising information about Mr Trump’s activities during visits to the country.]

By seeding the news media for months with fantastic stories about Trump, Steele the ex-UK spook, was running a disinformation campaign. The purpose was to prompt reporters to begin digging into Trump’s “links to Russia” and discover incriminating facts that Steele couldn’t find on his own.

Apparently the news media couldn’t confirm anything Steele gave them and the “Dossier” bore no fruit. Steele then handed off the fictitious memos to the FBI in London and later to John McCain when the FBI failed to act quickly.

Like when Ted Kennedy contacted the Soviet Union for help on defeating Reagan?
