A federal prosecutor has filed a formal criminal information charging Marcus Mumford, Ammon Bundy's lawyer, with three misdemeanors.
It accuses Mumford of creating a disturbance by impeding or disrupting official government duties by "verbally and physically interfering with" deputy U.S. marshals in their "transportation of a person in their custody."
The second charge is failure to comply with signs that prohibit the disruption of official government duties.
The third charge is failure to comply with the lawful direction of a federal police officer.....
The information replaces the initial citations against Mumford.
Marshals tackled Mumford, stunned him with a Taser and took him into custody in federal court Oct. 27 just after a jury acquitted Bundy and six others in the occupation of the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge.
The criminal information was filed by Timothy J. Ohms, a special attorney assigned from Washington state after prosecutors and federal judges in Oregon recused themselves from the case.
Mumford and his lawyer, Michael Levin, have said they intend to vigorously challenge the charges. Levine has filed a motion, requesting the personnel files of all the marshals involved in the incident.
A pretrial hearing is set for Feb. 15.
The maximum penalty for each offense is 30 days in custody and a $5,000 fine......
Mumford's lawyer earlier this month entered not guilty pleas on Mumford's behalf to the citations.....
Deputy marshals tackled Mumford as he questioned the government's authority to continue to hold Bundy on federal charges pending in Nevada and demanded to see paperwork to back it up.....
lawyer Michael Levine called the arrest an "unprecedented attack on the defense bar" during his first appearance with Mumford in court earlier this month....

The defense lawyer wants personnel records of the marshals involved in the takedown of Mumford, he's also asking about a meeting the judge in the Oregon Standoff Case had after the incident with the jurors who were witnesses to the attack on Mumford.

That figures. Not like it use to be supporting what is right and virtuous.
“failure to comply with signs” That’s really reaching.
Hopefully Trump will do a Clinton and fire all fed prosecutors and replace them with real ones. Need to get rid of all the fed agency’s swat teams. When the people fear the government, you have tyranny. When the government fears the people, you have freedom.
In other news, Zero pardons Oscar López Rivera.
Those Marshalls need to serve hard prison time for violating and denying Mumford’s civil rights.
It was a setup; they planned to tackle him all along. He was a thorn in their side and they wanted to teach him a lesson.
Aren’t the first charge and the second one the same charge, really?
Gonna charge the defense lawyer they tackled inside an open court room, against the judges verbal orders, with 3 misdemeanors over 3 months after the fact so they can take him to court and force him to plea it down to save his hide.
This is Juristprudence in the United States !!!
It took them long enough to come up with these charges.
This just tells me they didn’t know why they were tackling/tazing/bullying this lawyer in the first place.
I think the purpose is two fold. First they want to keep the lawyer busy with his own defense rather than assisting his clients and secondly, they may be trying to use this to stall a civil suit against the US Marshall Service.
As is always the case, the process is the punishment when you run afoul of law enforcement.
Where’s the video?
After some investigation it looks like the live video available earlier has been taken down, and the attorney representing his client when he was attacked by Fed marshals posted a request for copies of any live courtroom video of the attack. I’m guessing as an officer of both the Oregon and Federal courts requesting paperwork establishing the change of custody of his client, he was preparing his own case against the marshals.
