20th Amendment:
"The terms of the President and Vice President shall end at noon on the 20th day of January, and the terms of Senators and Representatives at noon on the 3d day of January, of the years in which such terms would have ended if this article had not been ratified; and the terms of their successors shall then begin."
.
(Obama still has a chance to pardon Hillary before noon tomorrow.)
.
I will be shocked if he does not pardon her.
They have to overshadow Trump’s inauguration. Her pardon might do the trick.
<12 hours. He’s too busy trying to keep all eyes on himself.
Frankly, I don’t give a damn. The destroyers have accomplished their goal to inflict mortal damage on the Republic. All I want tomorrow is a peaceful transition with no harm done. After that, let’s try ti save this country.
Almost time! The nightmare is almost over. Can Trump erase the memories quick enough?
Which means we would have had another forty-three days of Barack Obama had it never been passed.
I see no reason why today we even have to wait until Jan 20 to start the new term. The timing of events related to the election of a POTUS is set by the Constitution, and that timing was determined by the practical difficulties of travel in the late 18th Century. Obviously such difficulties no longer exist.
For example, the election is in early November. The EC members who are chosen in this election must meet in their state capitals to vote. This is specified to occur in December mainly because electors might not have been able to get to the capital earlier in 1789. Now, though, there’s no reason electors couldn’t get to the capital the day after the election. You still might want to leave time for recounts, legal challenges, etc., but there’s no reason that it has to be more than a week or two. There’s no reason that a new term could not begin by the end of November at the latest. Why continue to allow lame duck Presidents for over two months?
9 AM. Three more hours!
