President Trump has announced that he has nominated 10th Circuit Court of Appeals Judge Neil Gorsuch to serve on the U.S. Supreme Court as the replacement for the late Justice Antonin Scalia.
Judge Gorsuch has outstanding legal skills, a brilliant mind, tremendous discipline and has earned bipartisan support, Trump stated in introducing his pick to the public Tuesday night.
Mr. President, I am honored and I am humbled. Thank you very much, Gorsuch, an Episcopalian, said to applause in accepting the nomination.
While it is not known where Gorsuch himself stands on abortion, he is the author of the book The Future of Assisted Suicide and Euthanasia, in which he concludes that human life is intrinsically valuable and that intentional killing is always wrong.
However, some have questioned whether or not Gorsuch would seek to end abortion if the matter came before him on the bench. Andy Schlafly, an attorney and the son of the late Phyllis Schlafly of Eagle Forumwho had supported Trump prior to her deathrecently stated that Gorsuch has never said or written anything pro-life. He also said that Gorsuch is a big supporter [of] granting special rights to men who say they have a female identity.
But Ed Whelan, who disagrees with both of Schlaflys assertions, notes for the National Review that Gorsuch had dissented from the majority opinion when his colleagues ruled in Planned Parenthood Association of Utah v. Herbert that that state of Utah could not defund the abortion giant Planned Parenthood.
Respectfully, the panel in this case not only conducted its own de novo review of the record, it relaxed PPAUs burden of proof and even seemed to reverse it, Gorsuch wrote.

The gay wedding type of Episcopalian?
Is the fact that he’s Episcopalian relevant somehow?
If there’s any other kind, please let me know.
Yes when it comes to abortion and homosexual “marriage”.
I would say his rulings are much more important.
I don’t know if you’re a Christian, but if you are, could you belong to a “church” that advocates for baby-killing and homosexual “marriage”?
There’s the conservative Anglican wing after the ECUSA schism.
A Freeper mentioned that in another thread. They wondered why Gorsuch stayed with the Episcopalian branch instead of going to the conservative Anglican branch.
what? every judge on the supreme court is a catholic or a jew... I for one am excited to have a protestant again on the court!
“Is the fact that hes Episcopalian relevant somehow?”
Only if you think it’s a bit odd that the entire court was Catholic and Jewish in a nation that is 46% protestant. The next closest is Catholic at about 20%. Also far too Ivy league.
It is relevant to a Christian publication. And to all the Christian Protestants in this country. Some lobby sure finds a way to kill the nomination of Protestants to the Supreme Court.
Who represents my family and my region on the US Supreme Court?
Bothers me too. I am not comfortable if the church he belongs to sanctifies sodomy. Homosexual issues have become the tyranny of the minority, something the founding fathers would never have condoned, and we need someone on the right side of those decisions.
“.....but his religion is a matter of concern for me.”
Heard a guy say “Episcopalians just got tired of being Catholics.”
Neither a Catholic or Jewish??? OMG whatever will the lower court judges that have to appeal to Gorsuch do, since he is not one with most of them.
Not even 24 hours and the Democrats are attacking Niel Gorsuch’s mother.
Trumps Supreme Court pick, and his (in)famous mother
