Hard to tell.

I personally doubt it.

They have been pretty tight lipped about what is actually happening in this. I’ve had my ear to the ground pretty closely. Do get some feed from within Syria.

Our policies there have been schizophrenic because our government has been schizophrenic. Obama was on the wrong side, but could never say so openly. So he did what he could to protect his proxies there.

If you know how ISIS marketed its oil, you basically know the whole game. Erdogan’s family re-sold their oil. Obama made sure our air-strikes never hit the oil convoys.

With the fall of Aleppo and the arrival of Trump, Turkey knows the game is up and has started arresting ISIS people inside of Turkey and has started, supposedly, cooperating with Russia. They simply state that they reserve the right to kill Kurds now and in the future.

As we roll up what is left of ISIS, we have to make sure they don’t escape into Europe and the Americas, North or South. They need a blocking force to make sure none of them survive. People who have done what they have done must not be allowed to return alive to their home countries, which include Britain and America.

Correct.

He was focused on more important things, like the golf course.

Or on Global Warming.

Yeah. Beautiful. Read that crud yesterday. The Obama administration would be considered stupid if not for the fact that they were consciously trying to destroy America.

Obama... trying to plan the battle from the White House

The only thing Obama battles is Republicans.

One could believe that the delay by the White House “never being quite satisfied” was not an accident of policy, but treasonous intent by the White House.

It hoped the Russian’s would expand their work to Raqqa and THEY would absorb the fallout from the civilian casualties that would result from the Russian mode of attack. Oh, that’s right, they KNEW Russia would not have much fallout, because the western media does not care about Russian caused civilian casualties and the American left will not mount any “global protests” about it.

Meanwhile, the treasonous part is that Russia and Iran kept being strengthened in power in the Middle East region by every bit of indecision, reticence and “peace making” by the Obama White House.

If the Obama Admin worked on it for months, the enemy knows about it.

“In meetings with his national security team, he has signaled his desire to give Defense Secretary Jim Mattis, whom he regularly refers to by the nickname “Mad Dog,” a free hand in doing whatever it takes to fight terrorism. “He’s a businessman,” the senior Trump official said of the new president. “His attitude is that I am hiring really good people to make these decisions.”

How refreshing (and unusual) for a President to appoint the best-of-the-best and then rely on their expert, professional judgement in areas where the President isn’t an expert, instead of pretending like he knows everything there is to know and micro-armchair-generaling military matters of which he knows very little about.

Hiring the best and most experienced and then delegating is how ALL the really successful private sector leaders operate.

Unfortunately, we’ve had a series of Presidents (from both parties, mind you, and whether they hire the best or not) proceed to ignore their expert advisers advice or simply dither forever. This kind of armchair-generaling always reminds me of the Arrakis invasion scene in “Dune” where Padishan Emperor Shaddam IV personally remote-controls the action of soldiers of machines and soldiers during the battle.

Yes, trademark of a successful businessman indeed.

And he has done an EXCELLENT job of choosing staff in my opinion.

It is not Obama’s ineptness (he is hugely inept) but his complicity. He is/was owned by Saudi Money. He serves the wrong masters. He is a Globalist Islamist Puke.

Obama sweated the smallest details of U.S. military and intelligence operations, often to the point of inaction. Trump has made it clear that he prefers to go with his gut

WaPo is laying the groundwork for the same narrative used against Bush - reactionary, non-analytical, shoots-from-the-hip. Whereas obama and his team are the Beltway denizens' dream date - overly analytical, reserved, thorough.

The problem with the Brennan CIA creating a Kurdish-led army to fight ISIS is that will the CIA end game still remains overthrowing Assad

What after Raqqah?
To the victor go the spoils.
So who is the victor?
Will the real Syrian army move in?

Raqqah is not part of Kurdistan- will the Kurds withdraw?
What about Turkey? Are they going to covertly support ISIS as a counter to the Kurds?

If the YPG Kurds get their autonomy are they still Syrians or are they Kurds first? Are the YPG Kurds going to continue to lead the “SDF” aka CIA army against Assad....If Assad assents to their autonomy is he their enemy? Turkey will be their enemy, so who will be their friend?

Call me skeptical the USG is going to back off trying to overthrow Assad - too much the bureaucrats have invested in blaming the usual suspects for the human toll of the Syrian war and seeing Syria as a way to prick Putin.
