Washington Republicans Take Aim At Union Influence

Washington Senate Republicans are taking aim at organized labor. They’ve scheduled a series of public hearings beginning Monday on measures designed to reduce the influence of labor unions.

One of the proposed bills would prohibit unions that collectively bargain with the governor’s office from making political contributions to gubernatorial candidates. The sponsor, state Sen. Dino Rossi, said it’s about eliminating any “appearance of corruption.”

On Wednesday, Republicans will hold a public hearing on a so-called right-to-work bill to make union membership and dues not compulsory.

Just put laws in place outlawing collective bargaining and forced union adherence for employees of any federal government entity.

This is a Washington State proposal... where the teachers and public employee unions are the most powerful political force in the state by far. While I'm sure the Republicans in the Senate would agree wholeheartedly with you, this proposal is something that they at least have a chance of shaming the Democrats into allowing to be passed into law.

The states can do what they want. Many states are already RTW and more will be. I would hope the States that still collude with Teachers Unions to rob the taxpayers will see the light and disenfranchise the NEA and ATF even if they don’t go RTW. Public Services unions at any level constitute, along with the bureaucrats politicians they deal with are a combination for larceny against the taxpayers.
