NSC Staffers Purge Social Media Of Anti-Trump Posts, Fearing Reprisals

National Security Council (NSC) career staffers are purging their social media accounts of any past anti-Trump sentiments, the New York Times reports.

The purge comes amid increased suspicion among NSC political appointees that career officials are leaking key details of the Trump administration’s possible courses of action. These White House political appointees reportedly call these leaks the “insider threat” and are considering monitoring the phone calls and emails of career staffers.

The White House was reportedly incensed by leaks within the NSC of plans by Secretary of Defense James Mattis to have U.S. sailors board an Iranian ship in international waters to search for contraband headed to Houthi rebels in Yemen. Mattis set aside the operation after the plans leaked.

Political appointees on the NSC, like White House Chief Strategist Steve Bannon, have instead resorted to drafting plans with little paper trail.

“They ran all of these executive orders outside of the normal construct,” one official told Foreign Policy in late January. The effort reflects a deep distrust of career NSC officials, and others within the bureaucracy, who the White House fears will leak plans to the media.

The NSC also experienced an exodus of career officials prior to President Donald Trump’s inauguration, with many officials saying they did not want to work for him. “Career people are looking get out and go back to their agencies and pressure is being put on them to get them to stay,” a U.S. official told The Guardian in December.

Ruh Roh! Unless they got the "New and Improved" hildabeast signature hard drive wiper cloths, it's gonna be out there and somebody is gonna have it.

1. If you don't want it read, NEVER write it in the first place.

2. If you don't want somebody to see the pic, NEVER take the pic in the first place.

3. If you don't want it repeated, NEVER say it in the first place.

Fidiots! They deserve to be charged if they leaked anything classified too.

"Mattis set aside the operation after the plans leaked."

THIS PERSON SHOULD BE HUNTED DOWN AT ALL COSTS, GIVEN A FAIR TRIAL, AND THEN HUNG FOR TREASON.

I think the fact that we might have ‘staffers’ fearful of what they post on social media, particularly political and against Trump or the AMERICANS that elected him should be ESPECIALLY disturbing to us.

NATIONAL SECURITY COUNCIL staffers! If we cannot trust the motives and ideals of these people just who in the hell can we or should be able to trust?

Frankly, were I in charge, I’d be looking at a wholesale staffing change out.

If the goal was to slow down Iranian resupply of the Houthi terrorists, this was a clever plan. They got to make Iran scale things back just by leaking "the plan" to the press, with no risk of an international incident. If the President of the United States wanted that international incident to put Iran on notice, then the traitors in the NSC are guilty of serious crimes against America and need to spend a couple of decades making big rocks into little ones.

The Civil Service laws were posited upon the need for an apolitical career bureaucracy for experience and continuity between Presidencies. Clearly the bureaucracy is anything but apolitical. It is long past time to start reconsidering the Civil Service construct.

Indeed. And I will bet you that the Obama crew did everything they could to embed these political plants into the career-track government employee workforce.

They must be rounded up and purged, IMO - whatever it takes.

This kind of thing has been going on for years. I know of one op that was planned for Pakistan (iirc) years ago, but just before it left the ground over here, the media blew the gaff (might have been CNN, whodathunkit).

Somebody inside had leaked the info, and the whole thing was called off immediately.

Too mamy of "our" people inside are playing for the other team. GWB wouldn't do anything about it, and Barry was/is ON the other team.

Party's over, everybody out of the pool!

without radical changes to civil, service laws there will be few significant changes that can occur in government. THe enemy is entrenched and we do not have ten years for a siege.

“Career people are looking get out and go back to their agencies and pressure is being put on them to get them to stay”

I’m having trouble parsing that sentence. Are they in or out?

“Leaks” can be quite useful if you know they’re going to occur, and at the hands of whom.

It’s pretty tough to cover your digital tracks if you have been careless. Since most of these people assumed HRC would win l’d bet they were pretty fast and loose with snarky comments towards Trump. Start there.
