I’m not sure about ‘popular’, but there is a pretty big American football following in Israel. Several leagues including the fairly serious Israeli Football League.
Patriots’ owner Robert Kraft and family are big backers of American football in Israel.
Many current and former NFL players have taken part in organized visits to Israel, including a big tour by NFL Hall-of-Famers a year or so ago.
I hate the NFL. Too many thugs, jerks, and PC types.
We should do as the leftists. Declare them anti-Semites and decry them.

Don’t assume that. They have a national team but it hasn’t had any great success, just a 1966 World Cup qualification.
However, the fastest growing sport BY FAR in Israel, is LACROSSE. The new national team finished SIXTH in the latest World Championships!
An interesting side note . . . we all know the little ditty about ‘shortest books’ including Great Jewish Athletes. The one sport in America where this is not true right now IS Lacrosse. A number of US national team players over the last ten years are Jewish.

I wouldn't put Hoenlein on the left of anything. He uses a lot of Diplospeak to be sure, but I've spoken to him in person and hear him regularly on the radio and don't believe he is particularly sympathetic to the left.

You are correct. He’s a good deal more conservative than the bulk of the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations. That’s the reason for a lot of his diplospeak.
