That is THE KEY! Because they are Minority, Welfare-seeking Magnets. As soon as the RATS take control of a city, you can watch the deterioration before your very eyes. And deterioration is accelerated, if the “leadership” is Black RAT. Just look at when Detroit started it's decline. Starting with the Alabama-native Black Commie, Coleman Young in 1974, who was mayor for TWENTY YEARS and chiefly responsible for the city's fall, followed by Dennis Archer for another 7 years, Crooked Kwame Kirkpatrick, who's term was cut short by having to go to jail after 5 years, following up with Ken Cockerel Jr. and lastly basketball player Dave Bing. Now, after 40 years of “black leadership,” Detroit has elected a white RAT mayor Mike Duggan. It remains to be seen if a white RAT can turn the city around. It is cognative dissonance on steroids for these people to continue to elect the same kind of “leadership” expecting that each “new face” will fix the problems. Vermont will crash just as soon as enough trash moves to Burlington from Massachusetts and points South.
Last year, I did my own research on the gun murder rate by white people in the USA compared to the gun murder rate by white people in Europe.
In the USA, the rate is slightly below 2 per 100,000.
However, that number may be too high, because many Hispanic people in the USA self-identify as white, which would skew the statistics.
In Europe, the gun murder rate by white people is slightly below 1 per 100,000.
That number may also be too high, because only a few European countries break down their statistics by ethnicity.

I spent at least 15-30 minutes every day searching for a place in Maine. I would move there in a second (from Mass), but the wife refuses to move anywhere colder than Western Mass (which is pretty cold).
Maine still appeals to me because it is probably one of the very few places left where you might be able to afford an oceanfront place with a bit of land - as long as you are willing to head North of Bar Harbor...
The property taxes in Maine do seem shockingly high for what you get though.

I vacation in Tenant’s Harbor every year. From what I pay in NJ, the taxes are shockingly low, lol! But I notice that every year, more and more extremely wealthy people are moving into that area and building these extremely tacky McMansions. I wonder if they are driving out regular people? You have to go into the interior to see the old Maine and its fascinating inhabitants.
No. Vermont has about the least restrictive gun laws in the country and a homicide rate lower than any major country. Lower than Iceland, lower than Switzerland. White American just about never commit murder when living among other white Americans.
Vermont is a constitutional carry state. One needs only be 16 years old to carry concealed; if younger, you must have a slip of paper signed by your parents. I don’t know anybody in my area who doesn’t carry, given the rapid proliferation of drug dealers and addicts.

Remember Bernie Sanders’ “America” add. It was just about all filmed in Vermont, not much of it far from Burlington. Vermont is pleasant and enjoys a low homicide rate because it is white. Period.

My apologies and I would probably include it in Old South as it was part of VA until the Civil War era. There were probably one or a few others I may have missed in my casual references to differing areas. Nonetheless WV would probably make for an interesting study concerning firearms laws.

I went to school there. My parents retired there. I have family in VT going back to the 1740s.
It it the weirdest state you are going to ever see. There are old Yankees everywhere. They do not care about what you do in your home.
They love to hunt. They love to shoot. If they ever tried to “adjust” the gun laws there would be a revolution.
There are lesbian hippies working the land next to old dairy farmers.
My parents lived on an old farm/homestead that had been in our family for 200 years. As the years went by, parcels along a lake were sold. My parents neighbors were software writers, authors, skiware moguls, and other “almost” billionaires. But they wore the same mud boots and helped push your car out of a snow bank.
There are parts of the state wher it’s so poor you weep. Thirty lies away are million dollar homes around fancy ski areas. The capital is in a small city. There are some good universities in the state, yet the State College system is pretty good.
The property taxes for local, elderly residents are OK. When I took over the property, I was an out of stater—the property tax bill went from 2,500 a year to 11,000. Not exactly friendly.
The environmental laws are insane.
It’s not as white as you would think. I saw more and more people of color moving into the small cities.
It is a place where you stop and help someone, because it might be two hours until another car goes by.
It isn’t as charming as it looks. The people are not all Bernie Sanders. The really just want to be left alone.

Trust me. You don’t want to live in Maine. I worked there for five years, and moved back to Western Mass at my first best chance. There are decent rural areas in Western Ma. The taxes aren’t as bad as Vt, the people are nicer than Maine, and Colrain sure as sh!t ain’t Cambridge.
