Trump building Marine One pad at Mar-a-Lago

What do you get for a $200,000 membership fee at Mar-a-Lago? A “gigantic” hole in the middle of your club’s lawn, apparently.

We’re told that President Trump has begun building a large helipad on the grounds of his private club in Palm Beach, Fla., so that Marine One can fly in directly.

At the moment, the president lands at a nearby airport and transfers to a car for his weekly visits to his “Winter White House,” but that is causing too much trouble.

We’re told the 40- to 50-foot-wide dirt pit on the west lawn is currently surrounded by bright orange construction posts. But club insiders say that members are willing to put up with the eyesore, because they hope it will reduce the traffic that is caused when the president’s motorcade rolls though.

He wont be causing traffic jams anymore, so the citizens will like that, but I’m guessing he is going to be there a lot.

Can’t blame our president for not wanting to cause massive traffic jams.

Its also a signal that there will be many Mara-Largo summits
with international leaders of politics and business.hhis will drive the MSM bonkers, only a few of them will be invited to these meetings, excluding NYT, MSNBC and CNN of course.

They should build two tunnels in and out of the compound. Element of surprise.

I doubt that the entire USMC presidential helicopter squadron will be transferred from Quantico, VA to Florida just for the occasional weekend visit. They will probably send a pair of helicopters and crews on TDY for the weekend and then fly them back the day after.

I don’t mind Trump has meetings and golfs there, because he is working and meeting and golfing with various officials.

Obama would golf with his pals and otherwise jerk off on weekend junkets.

Has he gotten all the needed permits? Has he done an environmental impact study yet? What does the EPA have to say about this? How will this impact the wildlife. Seriously, this is going to take a few years to know the true impact. Boil some coffee!

Probably Trump. Remember, his salary is $1 a year.

Tunnels in sandy Florida soil that is 10 feet above sea level. That should be a fun engineering exercise.

I wonder about the finances on all this kind of stuff. Does Trump HAVE any money of his own since he put everything "in trust"? Since he said he wouldn't take a salary, does he have any spending money? Is EVERYTHING provided for him while he's POSTUS, where he doesn't need any pocket money at all? Does he share Melania's checking acct if she is now the breadwinner so to speak?

Doubt it. As the property is owned by Trump Org, the organization is paying for it with the intent it will have continued use after his Presidency.

No, but Page Six can say the members are idiots for paying $200,000 to being members. Plus, they can point out that Trump only hangs out with wealthy people.

Normally, the government pays for it because they want to dictate the rules. It’s an official government “facility” used by the President.
It probably costs about 1/10,000th of what we give to Suriname every year.

Sounds like a good idea to me. I expect the organization is footing the bill (not sure), and after 8 years there’ll be a helipad for use by guests.
