Since apparently there is nothing more pressing than stressing over proper language, administrators at Yale are pondering eliminating the term freshman and replacing it with non-gendered first-year.
I think there comes a time when you want to make sure that the way youre calling things reflects the values that you have, said Dean of Student Affairs Camille Lizarríbar, who is leading the conversation on the issue.
The Yale Daily News reports Lizarríbar said college officials have been considering the change for some time now, adding that other Ivy League schools have already made the switch.
Yale College Dean Jonathan Holloway said that for as long as he can remember students and parents have expressed frustrations over the gender-specific nature of freshman.
But of course. Its Yale.

Freshperson is no longer in vogue?
I nominate. N00bs.
This is the kind of crap universities and colleges focus on now — not teaching.
And people actually pay lots of money to be “educated” in such a place?
I’d rather get a Ph.D from a pre-school. Far more practical knowledge to be had there.
Yale again. Yale seems to be in full capitulation mode these days.
How did America ever make it all those years without all of these seriously retarded morons running around looking for “offensive” sh*t.
They should also get rid of sophomorestoo juvenile.
I suppose that “sophomore” is next on the list of words to be redefined.
"First-year" implies the existence of a "second-year".
Wishing will make it so....
Shouldn’t Yale be busy fixing the ‘Rat Urban Utopia of New Haven?
The term “First Year” is triggering to those intimidated by their novice status. “Student” won’t work either; it’s off-putting to those without the status-label “Professor”.
I suggest “Campus Participant”.
As a “senior” I demand they change it to “the year you are supposed to graduate moron”
When we get done fooling around with “freshman”, we need to get started on “human” right away. That term has always “frustrated” me.
Yale is named in honor of a slave-trader. I’m triggered.
That’s what I was thinking. Isn’t the term ‘fag’?
Embryo or egg for Freshman, a larva for Sophomore, a pupa for Junior, and an imago or adult for Senior.
Here’s the scale (low to high IQ):
You have more IQ than a Moron? Congratulations! You are RETARDED until your IQ is determined to be higher than that of a retard.
Just call all of them Imbeciles and that should cover it.
