The Damage the Freedom Caucus Has Done May Be Felt for Years

It is hard to overestimate the damage the Freedom Caucus has done to the fledgling presidency of Donald Trump, and to the country. By blocking the American Health Care Act of 2017, the conservative group has guaranteed that Americans will struggle forward under the burden of Obamacare. In the next few months insurers will announce their premium hikes for the coming year; chances are, given the continuing withdrawal of major companies from the marketplaces and the ongoing failure of the bill to attract enough young and healthy participants, the new rates will not be pretty. Last year premiums went up 25%; its likely the increases will be higher this year.
Republicans will own those higher rates. Their failure to repeal the financial underpinnings of Obamacare and start replacing that failing program with an approach that encourages competition and that embodies numerous other common sense reforms will mean that families hit by ever-higher costs will blame the GOP. Voters elected Donald Trump and a GOP Congress to get this job done the number one promise of every Republican campaign since 2010.

NONSENSE! I’m sick of hearing this crap. The bill WAS Obamacare! Those guys simply did what they promised the American people. We wanted that monstrosity REPEALED, NOT REPLACED!

Still beating the dead horse of Ryancare? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ To: mbynack; All; onyx; JustAmy; trisham; RedMDer; musicman; MEG33; deoetdoctrinae; xzins; Lady Jag; ... Costs go through the roof when the government unconstitutionally mandates that everyone MUST be covered and must be covered for all kinds of crap they dont need or want and regardless of preexisting conditions or whether they can pay for it or even if they are not citizens. Tyranny is expensive. To our Republican Representatives: Repeal 100% of Obamacare and replace with free enterprise/free market solutions per the U.S. Constitution! Nothing else is acceptable or workable. Socialism, communism, fascism, central planning, etc, is totalitarianism and never works!! Our federal government and our constitutional republic was not designed to be and was never intended to be a welfare state! Our Constitution was designed to prevent all this TYRANNICAL crap! We rebelled against a tyrannical king for a lot less than this! No excuses. If the house or senate rules are obstacles to repeal with a simple majority vote, then change the damned rules already! The constitution gives you the majority the power to do that. We voted in Republican majorities and a Republican president specifically so you can do this, ON DAY ONE! Just shut up the ridiculous whining, hand wringing and squabbling and quit trying to pass tyrannical unconstitutional bills and just get repeal DONE as is your constitutional DUTY!! For crying out loud are you the elected representatives of the free citizens of a free market constitutional republic or are WE the captive subjects of a tyrannical USSR style communist government with a centrally planned economy? To all: Does the constitution even matter to you people anymore? Does the Republic matter? Does Liberty matter? Does a free market economy matter? Our constitutionally limited government was not intended to take care of us from cradle to grave. Its NOT their job!! Conservatives and the Freedom Caucus are not our enemies. The big government globalist establishment is! And if we go along with it trying for a free lunch, we are. The government does not owe us health care or health care insurance. Its NOT a God-given right! Wake the hell up, people, its later than you think. 70 posted on 3/27/2017 2:56:37 PM by Jim Robinson (Resistance to tyrants is obedience to God!)

More like the principled stand the FC took will pay dividend for year.
ryancare, aka obamacare heavy, was a freaking train wreck.
Because ryan and his ilk didn’t have the stones to walk up and say “yes, people will lose their coverage. We are removing a large welfare program and those getting it will be done.”
The more I read and hear about this POS proposal, the more I am sure we dodged a bullet.
We can live with obozocare until we get our ducks in a row and implant some backbones.

Obama and the Democrats own Obamacare. Trump and the Republicans would have owned Ryancare.

They saved Trump. Ryan needs to be removed for putting a Bill that couldn’t even pass with an overwhelming majority in the House.

And every back on this forum backing Ryancare both understood that, and wanted it to happen.

FoxNews is feeling left-out and struggling to acquire the banner of #FakeNews outlet. Sorry, Fox, the conservative base of the Republican party THANK the Freedom Caucus for saving us from becoming responsible for ObamaCare.

Fake news anyone?
The Freedom Caucus just saved the Republican Party and Donald Trump. Just imagine trying to decent Paul Ryan's Obamacare Lite in the 2018 and 2020 elections. We'd get slaughtered.

“...Republicans will own those higher rates....”
*********************************************************
Bull Crap!! The ‘RATS will own the higher rates.
Had RyanCare legislation passed, the Republicans & Trump would have owned the equally higher rates since snake-in-the-grass Paul Ryan CHOSE to not include ANY of the provisions that would have helped lower health care & medical insurance costs.
The Freedom Caucus prevented this from happening -— not that they’ll get any credit for it from the Congressional RINOs or from Trump.

So, the Congress rejected the attempt to enact a bill pretending to replace ObamaCare with a slightly different flavor of the same thing—thereby preventing the GOP from becoming the new owner of the problems with the US healthcare system. And the author honestly thinks that’s a bad thing?
It’s not. Nor do I believe the author really believes that, either. These people write and say what they’re paid to write and say by those who would benefit from the policies they champion.

Hysterical. Rambling.
This woman is absolutely daft.
Under Ryancare, premiums were EXPECTED TO RISE 15 to 25% until 2020.
Sorry if the facts don’t fit your GOPe agenda Elizabeth but you’re not allowed your own set.
President Trump will be fine once he learns to consult with conservatives first. Not last.

Insurance premium hikes will start hitting people next month. The Freedom Caucus killed the repeal and left town for spring break.
In 1993 the dems controlled the house, senate and WH. When they failed to pass the healthcare reform they promised they lost the house and senate in 1994. Clinton still got reelected though.
If you don’t like the Ryan bill you’ll like the Pelosi bill even less.
To: Helicondelta
Republicans will own those higher rates. Rates would have gone up under the AHCA as well so the Republicans would have owned them regardless.
To: Helicondelta
Keep digging/polishing! The Ryancare hole is getting deeper! And the polish is off the t**d!
