I agree on everything you wrote. She is beholden to the dems now, but don't overlook the embarrassing Republican candidate. I forget his name, but he was a rookie and did not know how to campaign or what to say. He was a disaster in every sense of the word. I think a competent, talented republican nominee would have won, but it was not to be. I also think Murkowski's win deeply damaged Sarah Palin, unfortunately. I wish we had a do over with this one.

A principled conservative, in and of itself, is not enough to bring enough voters to the polls to win. Many, if not most voters are not ideological. After all, Hillary got more votes than Trump and Obama won both elections with ease, I think, by 7 and 5 points. I know every election is different, but whenever you are the main issue in the race, it usually does not bode well for that candidate.

Joe Miller was a good guy. He was defeated by the corrupt establishment. Murkowski won with a total of 100,000 votes for a US Senate seat.

Was Murkowski a good candidate? She lost in the primary. I guess no one asked her to take the pledge.

She was entitled to the job. It was her destiny. I have a gut disgust for the dimwit that is only surpassed by my disgust for Keating 5 McCain.

I’m not sure why that election, now two elections ago for that seat, is being rehashed but you have your facts wrong. In Alaska the write-ins can run under a party banner - she remained a Republican and the write-in list even said so, not as “third party” (though she at first attempted to actually get the Libertarian party nomination before going the long shot write-in route). The Democrat did not defer to her and ran a full fledged campaign to get the seat - there was some polling data showing it go one of three ways at some places in the race. Joe Miller made stupid decisions such as having his security detail arrest a reporter, he had an “angry moment” where he really lost his cool that Murkowski was able to exploit in advertisements, etc. Miller had virtually no campaign of his own and relied entirely on the NRSC for his media campaign - and yes, they ran a substantial amount of ads and organized on his behalf - they did not support Murkowski despite the fact she was a sitting member of the NRSC after he won the nomination.

Murkowski got far worse after that primary and her win as a write-in - she saw she could win an election without conservatives and without the Republican Party altogether which unfortunately emboldened her. Looking back that primary defeat which was seen as a victory for conservatives actually made things worse given the way it ultimately turned out. Before she would throw a few more dog biscuits and bread crumbs to conservatives.

HEY, NOW!!

Why you wanna go on and heap such insults on plain ol’ innocent self-respectin’ rocks like that??

What would Mt. Rushmore be without solid rock?
What would Yosemite be without good ol’ righteous upstandin’ rock?
What would America’s “purple mountain majesties” be without rock?
And how would we pay homage to our honored dead on the cliffs of Normandy, and at Arlington without thousands of self-sacrificin’ white-as-snow pieces of noble rock?

God, Himself, affirms that He is our Rock; an endorsement to warm the heart of every rock, great or small, if ever there were one.

Comparin’ and settin’ Murk on an even plane with rocks — that’s just an unconscionable defamation of rocks, and I decry it, and call for you — on your Freeper’s honor — to issue a retraction!

;-)

Susan Collins of Maine and Lisa Murkowski of Alaska voted against the measure, which is why he had to cast the tie breaker.

Many here keep telling us that there is no difference between the Republicans and Democrats. This bill shows just how wrong they are.
