The grandfather of a dead teenage robber criticized an Oklahoma man for using an AR-15 to defend himself against the group of burglars Friday.
Leroy Schumacher, the grandfather, said there was no reason his grandson had to die over the attempted robbery, reports KTUL.
What these three boys did was stupid, Schumacher told KTUL. They knew they could be punished for it but they did not deserve to die.
Jacob Redfearn, his grandson, and two other teens, Maxwell Cook and Jake Woodruff , were fatally shot by Zach Peters when they tried to break into Peters home on March 27. Armed with an AR-15, Peters shot all three of the would-be robbers.

Mein Gott! This is funny.
I think in addition to the brass knuckles, they went in with gloves and their faces covered with bandanas.
Sounds like friendly kids to me.
3 dudes with brass knuckles breaking into a house
Crime doesn’t pay, grampa...
The guy has a point - made me consider. Come to my house next time, I’ll be more considerate and use an AR-10. Numerically, it’s 33% “nicer” to thieving scumbags!!
You rob you die. That’s just the way it goes. Raise your kids better.
Hey grandpa, ESAD
If he hadn’t broken in to a house that wasn’t his and brought brass knucks to a gunfight he would still be alive gramps
[ What these three boys did was stupid, Schumacher told KTUL. They knew they could be punished for it but they did not deserve to die. ]
They were armed and performing a home invasion.
That’s 3 less criminal thugs. Start by blaming the criminal thugs, dummy.
Schumacher said it was unfair for Peters to shoot at the robbers because they only had brass knuckles on them. Brass knuckles against an AR-15, come on, who was afraid for their life, Schumacher went on.
Gramps has a point! Clearly the shooter should have ditched the rifle, and turned himself into 3 people armed with a knife and brass knuckles.
I mean, come on, that’s exactly what I would have done.
“Would it make ya feel any better, Little Girl, if dey had bin thrown oudda da window?” ~ Archie Bunker
Gramps, you should have taught your grandson how to behave. "Don't break into homes in Oklahoma dressed in a ninja outfit, armed with a knife and brass knuckles. Bad things might happen!"
Kids do not deserve to die. Kids deserve better parenting so that they will not have become hoodlums, but that didn’t happen. Kids deserve to think about the consequences of their actions after their previous armed home invasions, but that didn’t happen either.
I have known people who suffered for years because of fear, nightmares, and other problems after such a home invasion. Given the physical and psychological damage that thugs with brass knuckles can inflict and clearly intend to inflict, yes, at that point, they deserved to die.
I feel sorry for you, grandpa, I do. But if you loved ‘em so much, you should’ve taught ‘em better.
That can’t be real. The spelling is correct.
Would a Glock been more humane?
How about a .44 derringer or pistol with .22 magnum rounds?
Not humane enough?
How about a high power sling shot?
