A military judge on Friday dismissed two relatively minor charges against the five prisoners at the Guantanamo Bay detention center who have been accused of orchestrating the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.

Army Col. James Pohl accepted a defense argument that the five-year statute of limitations had run out on two non-capital charges: attacking civilian objects and destruction of property.

This insanity must stop. Obama secured constitutional rights for Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, Al Qaeda's operations planner, who admits to masterminding 9/11 and admits to being a member of Al Qaeda. We're still dickering around in court about what to charge the guy and his fellow defendants with. This is not how you fight a war...

This is not on Obama! It’s all on Bush II. Bush put those terrorists in Gitmo, and then he pushed for nothing more.

Consider this. In June of 1942 a U-boat landed Nazi saboteurs on the eastern coast of the U.S. All were soon captured. FDR made sure they were all quickly tried. Most of them were executed within 6 months.

Think about that. Within 6 months. FDR was far from perfect. But he was a MUCH better war president than Bush II. Much better.

To be fair, lots of condemned met their fate that quickly back then. The guy who tried to assassinate FDR rode the Lightning 4 months after the deed. Four years would be remarkably quick today.

You conveniently left out the lawfare waged by US lawyers (Eric Holder’s law firm among them) on behalf of the jihadis held at Gitmo that was looked upon favorably by interventionist courts.

Trump should go down there and shoot them all himself as Commander -in-Chief.

True enough. But had Bush II acted with the same firmness as FDR did, there would have been no jihadists left in Gitmo for the lawyers to argue over.

Re: Lawfare

And...There is plenty of that being waged against conservatives. The entire process is to bankrupt people ( or the threat of bankruptcy) into submission to the Marxist worldview religion.

We should no longer take any of these POS as prisoners.
We should waterboard them right there in the field when captured, and then shoot them once we have the information. Take no prisoners as some lib goofball back here will release them.

We should not be keeping these poor men locked up at Gitmo year after year.

Strap each of them to a Tomahawk cruise missile and return them to their home countries!
