Claremont University Students Shut Down Conservative Speaker
Daily Signal ^ | April 07, 2017 | James Rogers

Protesters at the Claremont Colleges successfully prevented conservative commentator Heather Mac Donald from speaking on their campus.

Students at the Claremont Colleges, a consortium of undergraduate and graduate liberal arts colleges in Claremont, California, blocked entrances to the building that Mac Donald was scheduled to speak in.

Mac Donald, a senior fellow at the Manhattan Institute, a conservative think tank, was giving a speech titled “The War on Police,” a reference to her 2016 book about how political rhetoric against police makes America less safe.

Mac Donald was forced to livestream her speech after protesters blocked students and professors from entering the building.

They probably weren't actual students but paid Democrat thugs.

You can shut it down but you can’t kill it.

Any University President that does not deploy campus and outside police to ensure free speech rights should be identified and held accountable in multiple ways.

So much for that college reputation as being conservative.

Since no one did anything to stop the protesters, expect more of them in the future.

They probably were students. This will never end until they are routinely expelled for disruption of a school event. Free speech doesn’t mean you can stand there and scream during class.

I think Larry Arn used to be at Claremont before going to Hillsdale College. This is just another case of the “tolerant” left showing how “open-minded” they are to viewpoints that don’t match their own.

Uvin went on to condemn the students’ behavior, saying, “What we face here is not an attempt to demonstrate, or to ask tough questions of our speaker, all of which are both protected and cherished on this campus, but rather to make it impossible for her to speak, for you to listen, and for all of us to debate. This we could not accept.”

I didn't see that there was any price to be paid by the obstructors for that which is "unacceptable" - which makes it entirely acceptable.

I am tired of paying for these totalitarian indoctrination centers. No more tax dollars, including loans, for them!

If we are going to subsidize someone’s education at this level, it should be for practical subjects, for the disadvantaged, the most cost-effective way (online) possible.

And it is a racket how much these “nonprofit” institutions pay for celebrity speakers anyway. Again, not a dollar of tax money (in my opinion at the state level either) if they have the luxury of spending on such.

Claremont has a number of colleges with Claremont McKenna being the most conservative. The protesters were probably from the connected colleges whose students are not as conservative as those at Claremont McKenna.

Civilization is a thin veneer.....!

It is being torn apart/down as never before because of our increased ability to communicate with each other. Of course the decrease in what we call “morality”, ‘throws gasoline on the fire.’

Sad enuf that machines have replaced ‘strong backs and arms’-and as far as brainpower goes, it can be replaced now by cheap brains available from (H1B?) India/China and leaves our college grads unemployed.

Have you thought what our grandchildren will do to make a living...no matter how strong, smart, they are?

“Claremont has a number of colleges with Claremont McKenna being the most conservative. The protesters were probably from the connected colleges whose students are not as conservative as those at Claremont McKenna.”

From the article:

“Mac Donald was a guest of the Rose Institute of State and Local Government, a research institute on the campus of Claremont McKenna College, a member of the Claremont Consortium.”

These mindless numb skulls refer to conservatives as fascists but in truth they are the Nazi’s of our time . Now only one voice of liberalism is allowed in our colleges and universities . What the hell do you call that !!!!

Schools of indoctrination need to be dealt with ,, they resemble strict commie authoritarians at best .

How much, if any, public funds go to that college? Allowing those “liberals” to shut down free speech should be costly to them since we still have the First Amendment. Make them pay!
