EPA Employees Billed Taxpayers $15,000 for Gym Memberships in Vegas
Washington Free Beacon ^ | April 11, 2017 | Elizabeth Harrington

The receipt for "fitness memberships for EPA employees" totaled $14,799.63 and was created in April 2016.

The 24 Hour Fitness memberships include yoga and martial arts classes. The gym boasts "good vibes" where EPA employees can "sweat it out together."
.
.
.
The EPA office opted to purchase the expensive memberships from 24 Hour Fitness instead of utilizing the gym on UNLV's campus. The agency leases five buildings from the university.

The university has a 184,000-square-foot Student Recreation and Wellness Center that is available to EPA employees for $25 per month.

Just what is the difference between a normal American having to pay for their own gym time and a government employee having it paid for them?

I can see the military having gyms...their mission requires physical fitness.

But for others it should be their time and their dime.

I include the FBI, the CIA, and everyone not wearing a military uniform.

It would be very cost effective if the entire EPA budget was spent on EPA employee Gym memberships, if each and every employee spent 100% of their working hours at these gyms.

The more they can be persuaded to not enter their offices, the better.

instead of utilizing the gym on UNLV's campus

Instead??? What, instead of using my hard earned tax dollars to combat pollution or whatever they're supposed to be doing? Throw each one in jail, fine them court costs and make them repay the taxpayers by double.

When I worked around the Pentagon....everyone and their brother was worried about audits. If you went out and bought new office chairs...it could easily end up with some idiot reviewing what kind of chairs you bought and how you bought them. I would be curious what idiot within the EPA signed off on this deal. I doubt if it’s legal.

In the back of my mind, I suspect losing this "taxpayer perk" is the real reason so many EPA employees are upset with Trump and Pruitt.

They are not upset at losing their climate change scam so much as the fact that they will have to foot their own gym memberships now.

“The more they can be persuaded to not enter their offices, the better.”

The “persuader” should be pink slips, not free gym memberships.

Cut the EPA budget in half and I’ll live with $15,000 for gym memberships.

Whoever authorized this should be fired and forced to pay the $15k.

What other “clubs” do they enjoy at OUR expense?

Country clubs?
Wine clubs?
Strip clubs? (that’s already been proven)

It’s the trickle down effect of official corruption. Employees see the top of the administration stealing billions through outright payments, bribes, kickbacks as they “redistribute” trillions to approved beneficiaries, and so they decide that it’s okay to see the agency budget as their personal piggy bank. And if hillary had been elected, it would have continued unabated.

The more they can be persuaded to not enter their offices, the better.

The office is only part of the problem; lots of times they're out looking for mud puddles to designate as wetlands so they can deprive you of the value of your property.
