When will open carry be legal?
I see them everywhere, 30.06/30.07 signs in at least 20% of establishments. Many just post 30.07 as they support concealed carry in their establishments but not open carry for fear it will weird out some customers not accustomed to seeing a fella/lady with a side arm in open.
>>When will open carry be legal?<<
It is legal now.
How about a .308 sign that says “10% off your bill if you show your CCW card or your side arm on you hip. Welcome!”
Facinating. I’ve yet to see one “wild west cowboy” we were all warned about.
One of the grocery stores we frequent locally has the occasional open carry person shopping. My only interest is WHAT they might be carrying. 99.9% of customers-——meh! Unless it happens to be someone from cali that gets the vapors.
Want your store to be popular ? Put up a “Free Guns” sign (grin)
I saw a lot of 30.06 signs on stores, but when open carry passed, I started seeing more of those plus the 30.07 signs.
I stopped doing business with the ones that posted the 30.07 signs.
What city are you seeing them in?
Houston and Houston Metro area.
My impression is that Houston is a bit more left than most of Texas. At least significant parts of Houston.
I bet the karaoke bar is a gun free zone. Guns and bad singing could be a dangerous combination. ;)
The big issue for me is having to leave your sidearm in the truck because you cannot enter the business with those signs.
I've already had a pistol stolen once. Left it in my truck, went in with my wife to have a bite to eat. Chevy pickup. Didn't take’m but a minute to get in/out.
Nice one too. Nickel plated snubby .357 mag.. Damn I loved that there wheel gun. Now some gang banger punk is sportin it around. grrrrrrrr
I generally avoid stores that are gun free zones, and the potential of having your gun stolen from your vehicle is one of the reasons.
It's a shame, but Texas passed laws prohibiting cities from enacting anti-gun ordinances. They tried that at the Houston zoo. Went to court and the city of Houston had to remove the signs prohibiting folks from their concealed carry rights.
Needless to say, it's up to the business owners whether the want it or not. My lil ol pinion...if I were in business in Houston, I'd encourage concealed and open carry in my place. Businesses get robbed by the dozens a day in Houston.
Lots of stories about defensive gun uses in Houston.
