Karen Oliveto clutched a friend's hand, closed her eyes and wept when she learned last year she had been elected a bishop of the United Methodist Church. Oliveto, who is married to another woman, had become the denomination's first openly gay bishop.

“Lesbian Methodist bishop”

I see at least two things wrong with that phrase.

2 Timohty 3:1-5

3 But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. 2 People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, 3 without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, 4 treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God— 5 having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with such people.

We were warned and this “bishop” is a clown and pretender.

I take it the Bible is obsolete in the Methodist church. What do they teach then?

Why do homosexuals feel the need to force feed a change in theology or doctrines of a denomination??

Why do they feel entitled to force change which could result in a schism?? If a schism results will they really be proud of that result, no matter what harm that would cause??? All so that they can claim they forced a church to affirm homosexuality???? Of all the issues in the world their main concern is that homosexuality be affirmed, and damn the consequences????

At one time I thought the divisions over this issue in the United Methodist Church would recede with traditional Christians receding into the background - those that didn’t just leave. Now I’m wondering if schism is actually possible, that Conservative Methodists are going stand up and, I surmise, fight and if they lose start leaving, with their pastors, in mass.

Good for you. I don’t think God is either. They seem to worship another god made of their own image.

About 15 years ago we took my mother in law to her Methodist Church for Easter Sunday services. There was no mention of Jesus. None. No mention of His Resurrection. I told Mr. M that I didn’t want to go back.

Let me take a shot.

Former visitor to the Methodist denomination. Mother and grandmother baptised in said church. I will NEVER step foot in another UMC structure.

1 being a lesbian (sinner)
2 being a lesbian Methodist (apostate, sinner)
3 being a lesbian Methodist bishop (false teacher, apostate, sinner)
4 being a bishop (unbiblical)
5 being a Methodist (heretical) denomination)

I’m probably overlooking the obvious...

Anybody else?

Yep, it’s hard to defy God and then ask for His blessing. I would say a person’s faith in God means nothing if God has to conform to your lifestyle instead of the other way around.

I know how you feel, I grew up in the Episcopal Church and it turned a hard left and I gave up on it. The last few Presiding Bishops have been despicable. Especially the one preceding the current one. She was a terrible Left-Wing Liberal and I just cannot understand what happened.

The Episcopal Church used be the most Conservative of the churches outside the Catholic Church and bleed red state Republican. Quit going a long time ago.

What Hell must be like. Astonishing!

Sierra Madre (CA) Congregational Church's pastor c. 1970 decided he was an atheist. Of course, he didn't last long. But God used that to (a) cause the refugees to found a vibrant new church across the street and (b) bring in a dynamic young pastor as his replacement, under whose extended ministry roughly one million souls worldwide have been added to the Kingdom. God cannot be mocked.

The only think holding the Methodist church in somewhat of check is the African Methodist Church. The American Methodists leaders don’t like it.

The Lesbian Methodists

Sounds like a denomination, doesn’t it? The Wesleyan Methodists.

It is important to note that this is an act of defiance, but it’s also important to note that the leaders in the denomination are dragging their feet with the intentional purpose of getting conservatives to abandon the denomination prior to the schism meeting in 2018 and the vote over this very subject.

The fewer conservatives the fewer conservative votes. It’s that simple.

And then then liberal bloc determines property, assets, pension funds, etc.

It’s a great strategy. They are cunning like a roaring lion roaming about seeking whom they may destroy.
