I was going to say something about getting the federal government out of public schools entirely. Your post says it all. Thanks.

Cut the USDA budget by 90%. Or eliminate the USDA completely. I’m good with either.

I went through 12 years of Catholic school without a cafeteria. We brought our lunches from home.

Exactly. “Free” lunches are just another brainwashing tool to make children think the government is “good” and mommy and daddy.

It is a dehumanizing system..... We need the Feds and State completely OUT of “education” which is ONLY brainwashing for State slavery. It takes THEFT of virtuous people’s money to “pay” for the “free” lunches.

Charity is ALL we need-—Churches can reclaim their role and get Feds out of regulating Christian churches which don’t defy Natural Laws (the Constitution).

It was the Prussian plan of Fichte—to destroy agency (virtue) in little children, normalize being “cared” for by government (normalize evil socialism). It only makes parents lazy and delinquent in the care of their own children. We need to take back the education and care of our OWN children and get ALL government agencies (esp. CPS where rapes and emotional abuse of little children is rampant).

We need to return to the city ALL powers. Remove the State and state bureaucracy and Feds which are totally corrupt and costs billions.

From Wikipedia:

The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), also known as the Agriculture Department, is the U.S. federal executive department responsible for developing and executing federal laws related to farming, agriculture, forestry, and food. It aims to meet the needs of farmers and ranchers, promote agricultural trade and production, work to assure food safety, protect natural resources, foster rural communities and end hunger in the United States and internationally.

Approximately 80% of USDA's $140 billion budget goes to the Food and Nutrition Service (FNS) program. The largest component of the FNS budget is the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (formerly known as the Food Stamp program), which is the cornerstone of USDA's nutrition assistance.[2]

Services[edit]

FNS products and services are provided to one in five Americans; its main products and services include:

commodities supplied as:
prepared meals that are served at congregate feeding sites;
food packages that may be used for home consumption;
and disaster relief assistance
food assistance through electronic benefit transfer (EBT) cards;
nutritionally balanced, low-cost or free meals and snacks;
vouchers;
and, fresh, locally grown produce
nutrition education and promotion maTerials and presentations delivered by expert staff and senior managers;
and food safety and security efforts, technical assistance and informational materials

Nutrition assistance programs[edit]

Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) — Formerly known as the Food Stamp program, SNAP is now the cornerstone of USDA's nutrition assistance.[1]
National School Lunch Program (NSLP) — Lunches subsidized by the NSLP are nearly ubiquitous in public schools. The program has operated since 1946.
School Breakfast Program (SBP)
Special Milk Program (SMP)
Summer Food Service Program (SFSP)
Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women,
Infants and Children (WIC)
Farmers' Market Nutrition Program / Senior Farmers'

Take a look at this vid taken of the general population from 1904 and look for any tubby cubby or plump women, children, men, policemen, workmen ......

There are a few but they are the exception! Amazing what the modern diet has accomplished. /S

I think the development of catalyzed processed vegetable oils to replace animal fats around the 1920’s started the decline in our diet. IMHO.

I don’t think the modern diet is to blame......it has to do with people’s ‘inactivity’ today.

You have to burn what you put in you body....food is the fuel if you will. Let your car idle for the same amount of time an individual sits in one day and you’ll see rather quickly what happens.

I think I read that there are more USDA employees today than there are farmers. That’s what’s wrong with the picture.

When he ran for President in 1992 and made that series of infomercials, Ross Perot was discussing how massive the USDA was. He shared a joke about a USDA employee who was wrought with grief and weeping furiously. When asked why he replied: "My farmer died."

Sadly, without federal mandates, they would be serving spoiled and/or substandard food to the kids.

Puh-leeeeeeze!

I'm not even going to engage. Except to say this. And parents just stood by and let it happen?

I call b.s.

We had a slider coin-operated machine that we could choose orange juice, grape drink, white or chocolate milk. It was a dime for an 8 ounce cardboard carton in the late ‘60s.

The government has absolutely no right to tell us what to eat....or tell us how much we should weigh for that matter.

OR pay farmers NOT to grow certain crops!

And in recent years they started free breakfasts, too.

Some ISDs even provide 2-3 meals a day during the Summer! Meanwhile, those parents are using their food cards to load up their SUVs with lobsters, sodas, snack food and steaks.
