Such a delay is better handled - an hour into the beginning of the delay - as a flight cancellation, and issuing vouchers to all the passengers, redeemable for another flight with that airline, or honored at face value (what they paid for their ticket) with another airline.
I would rather change my travel plans than sleep on the floor of the gate area from 6:50 one day to 2:5o the next day. Such a period, no matter the cause, should not be a “delayed” flight. It should have been a cancelled flight.

You’re right, but this was at the gate.
Anyone check to see if Delta tweeted to United ‘ hold my beer ‘ just before the incident?
Southwest has got to be loving all of this. Another round of posting “we beat the competition not you” should show up soon.

Phones are supposed to be off when the doors closeNope, they need to be in airplane mode, pictures and video are still operable.

This is what happens when our government gives airline employees carte blanche implicit or implied police powers in the name of national security.

Nope, they need to be in airplane mode, pictures and video are still operable. Correct; that's how it has been the last few times I have flown.

Yeah, Southwest is the only consistently pleasant airline these days.
Then again, I have seen passengers pretty up in arms on Southwest flights as well.

I am not flying any more, ever.
Supposed to be in Hamburg in June but I am cancelling that.
It’s okay, I will not miss the cattle call.

“Phones are supposed to be off when the doors close”
I’m pretty sure they’re allowed to be on until the Captain orders them to be turned off. Either way, that gives the stewardess no right to assault a passenger.

Phones are supposed to be off when the doors closeFalse. Phones are supposed to be off OR IN AIRPLANE MODE which still allows recording.

This is what happens when our government gives airline employees carte blanche implicit or implied police powers in the name of national security. Yup. This is human nature. Give most people a little power over others and many lose their mind.

This happened inside the terminal.

Phones are supposed to be off when the doors close That is incorrect, as of about 4 years ago.

This is the second Delta incident today. It’s almost as if they are trying to be United.

"...slaps customer..."
I meanwhile run around treating my customers with kid gloves as if they are made of eggshells encrusted with priceless diamonds. Competition is yet one of the many reasons we need MORE airlines. Or allow the foreign carriers to conduct domestic routes.
United Airlines, American Airlines, and Delta Airlines would absolutely want to shrivel and die if they had to compete with Singapore Airlines and similar vendors. Those other overseas carriers are like being at a beautiful 5-star hotel, except you just happen to be at 39,000-feet altitude.
