yes and to isis as well. posted a link about that to this thread just a moment ago.
see my post 58 to get a better understanding on this
I have preached here that the Al Qaeda/Isis/Muslim brotherhood movement is in fact a counter reformation.
Change has gradually come to the Islamic world as they have grown and prospered post WW II. This modernization has tempered the sharp edges of Islam for most of the Islamic world. There has in fact been pretty dramatic change.
Usama Bin Ladin found this change intolerable. He was in effect kicked out of his family. Family is the very root of Arab society. such action was extremely significant.
It was so significant that he took all his marbles, left the country began the counter reformation
The thing is, we can see one or two purchases, but as in the 80s when you add it up it’s a teenie percentage.
There was a scare about the Japanese “buying America”. They had to sell much-—the Aladdin Hotel in Vegas, for ex.

Some wealthy Saudi citizens funded Al-Qaeda and ISIS, but the Saudi royal family has been fighting them in order to keep power. The Saudi Arabian army is physically fighting ISIS at the moment and are deeply threatened by ISIS, which wants their government overthrown in favor of the Islamic Caliphate. The Saudis have done more bombing raids against ISIS than any other country except the United States. In addition, Bin Laden wanted the House of Saud eliminated from power in Saudi Arabia, so that true theocrats could control Mecca and Medina.
It is horrible what happened to your sister and I can understand why you have an emotional stake in this, but the Saudi government is arguably our strongest ally against ISIS and (with the exception of Israel) Iran. Our president has promised to look after our national interests, eliminate ISIS, and not try to impose our democratic values on others. The latter might sound nice, but it worked out disastrously under Bush. I hope you do not give up on politics just over Saudi Arabia, though, as there are many other important issues and events going on in the world.
“... teenie percentage...”
Good to know - we lived near the massive GE plastics plant and were there when all of the signs switched to Arabic and it was unsettling.
I am a huge fan of President Trump’s visit to Saudi Arabia and am in no way a “concern troll” by bringing up the GE plant.
A side question - is there confirmation that Sessions is now in possession of anything important from Comey’s office after he was fired? (if you can answer).
I honestly don’t know.
He’s a brave man!!! I would not like to be the lone infidel surrounded by a bunch of Muslims wielding swords!!!
Treating the Saudis as an “ally” or “friend” should only be understood in the limited sense that we allied with the USSR during WWII for the purpose of defeating the most imminent threat. IF the Saudis truly will help to defeat ISIS and other jihad terrorists, well and good.... and of course, we have shared interests with them in stopping Iran. BUT we should never be so foolish as to mistake the Saudis for genuine friends or lasting allies. They would slit our throats or blow us up in a heartbeat if it proved convenient to them.
you are dillosinal in your ignorance
Saudi Arabia and the Gulf States ave always been very close allies.
Your thoughts are balderdascious drivel
Are you trying to say “delusional”???
You are stunning in your ignorance and inability to engage in reasoned discussion. You embarrass yourself.
Saudi Arabia and the “gulf states” are only our allies in the most instrumental sense of mutual usefulness. They need our protection and we need their strategic locations. That does mean we share fundamental values. They are a blight on humanity, tempered only by the fact that Iran, ISIS, Al Qaeda, et al. are worse.
“Balderdascious” is not a word, but then you are obviously not too fluent in the English language.
Meant to type “that does NOT mean we share fundamental values”
Typing too fast!!
It's roughly equivalent to some of our misguided youths leaving the country to join up with ISIS and "fight the infidels" - or even work for them inside of this country.
An an ideal world, the U.S. would not have to be involved with the Saudis at all. But just like we needed Russia to help defeat the Nazis, we will need the Saudis to help defeat ISIS and radical Islamic terrorism.
Baldersascious is an adjective created to enhance the description of your drivel.
You are pure moron. You can’t even answer with an attempt at intelligent argument. You are a disgrace to this site and to humanity.
It appears that I have engaged someone that lacks the intelligence to comprehend what is being argued
Reciting the dogmatic party line takes no real intelligence.
Sigh.... last comment. You are so ignorant you don’t know how laughable you are. Don’t speak to me anymore. You have all the “intelligence” of a typical libtard. You have no knowledge of anything in the Middle East or anywhere else. You haven’t uttered one thing amounting to a “thought” or an “argument”....
