As a legal matter, this seems straightforward. The FBI’s gotten too loose with sharing Americans’ data in violation of its own “minimization” rules and you’d better believe Jim Comey will be asked about it the next time he testifies before Congress. If he testifies before Congress.
As a political matter, it’s more complicated. Why did agents access the info and, in some cases, share it with people who weren’t supposed to see it? Were they spying on Americans for reasons unrelated to national security or were they scrambling to foil what they thought were imminent terror attacks? If the latter — and that’s a big if — this is a sort of high-tech version of the old “ticking bomb” scenario in debates over torture. When is it appropriate for the government to break its own rules if it reasonably believes it can save innocent lives by doing so?

Who were the “unauthorized third parties”? They seem to be distinct from the federal contractors.

The story in the NY Post states some of the illegal queries came from the White House. Not being picked up by any other lame stream media, but we will have to see over the next 48 hours.
Wouldn't surprise me in the least if Comey takes the fifth and declines to show up.
If he does show up, you can be sure it's because the Uniparty has agreed not to question him about certain things.

As far as I’m concerned, the FBI is America’s Gestapo Eisengruppen. When given the order to kill women, children and babies, they will carry out the orders.
Trial, conviction, and prison for those responsible. No plea bargaining; maximum sentence.
I am thinking that it might turn out to be the case that there is so much info pouring out that the media, in need of face time on their cable news, will be forced to cover it all, allegiances be damned.
Sorta like having to cover it because their bottom line demands it.
At that point, they just might forget that they are trampling on their own people.
It will be so big that the FBI will not have time to conduct the proper queries.
The illegalities of Obama and the Clinton's and all their hangers-on are so massive and so pervasive that when it falls out it will fall hard.

That sounds very plausible. Another thing is I think that they know how much they have done and they know that if it truly ever got to see the light of day they would be toast. That is why they did everything to shore up all the law enforcement they were in charge of. Trump winning has exposed their cover.
The whole Russia thing and the exacerbation of it is a result of people like us sneaking and sniffing around the rock that holds all their secrets.
She hopes she can run just one more time, but she has had her one chance to fool everyone once. It is hard to repeat something like that once the cat is out of the bag.
Right now, I believe, they are in a massive CYA effort. And they are skating on thin ice.
We don’t give a rats a$$ about him being questioned by Congress. How about a grand jury.
