Good...if you hate the dress code find another place. It is time to dress up to go out. I didn’t know wearing nice clothes is racist. The moron who said that it should be white sheets and hoods must love to dress as a slut...

It has been my experience that any person, place or thing that claims to be “classy” isn’t.

I must have missed the law that prevents young people of color from dressing in a civilized manner and patronizing this bar.

I remember those days. And I think people were much more respectful and civilized to each other also back then. Dressed nicely , acted maturely. Miss those days a lot.

No brimless head gear eliminates Muslim caps and Jewish yarmulkes. Sikh turbans, too.

Too wordy. I’d never even bother reading. Plus I think they are simply asking for continual legal challenges. I have no issue with standards of dress but this is overkill.

I well remember Llyods Bar and restaurant in Maracaibo, Venezuela in the 70s. At 7pm a coat and tie were mandatory, even in the bar. It was always mandatory in the Restaurant. Before 7pm we “oil field trash” would go there and drink. At 7pm we must leave or put on a coat and tie. Llyod being a good businessman had a bunch of coats and ties on a rack for us. If we wanted to stay after 7pm a very polite waiter would ask us to come to the cloak room and select a coat and tie if we wanted to stay. Most of the times we stayed.

It was very civilized. I liked it!

In the business mindset, they equate classy with mucho $$$$$$, so not a bad strategy. Saying that thought it’s usually too rich for my blood.

That may be their objective but they spread too wide a net with that description. A phrase like “proper dinner attire expected” followed by “management reserves the right to determine what is and is not proper dinner attire.” is all that’s needed. Doing this just gets all the Jesse Jacksons to come out.

Could the cast of The Breakfast Club get in this joint? I guess Judd Nelson’s character couldn’t or maybe not even Emilio Estevez either as he wore cutoff sweatshirts exclusively.

I don’t understand what a lot of that means, but I assume I’d be fine in a dress, simple gold jewelry, and black pumps.

The person who owns the place makes the rules.

Is “no smoking,” classist or racist?

The best part of the code is “hats must be worn forwards” or something like that. That means no baseball caps worn backwards. I HATE SEEING BASEBALL CAPS WORN BACKWARDS! Whoever introduced that fashion atrocity should be arrested by the fashion police and publicly flogged. I have been trying to find out who did it first. I first saw it in a 1987 movie starring Tex Cobb.

It was on the cover of the New Yorker before that. I remember seeing it as long ago as 1981.

The first baseball player to wear his cap backwards was the first one who figured out he could wear it that way under his catcher’s mask, probably circa 1880s.
