Iraqi Army units have been trying to liberate Mosul for over a year now. It is still not over.

Get ISIS into a section of the city and then carpet bomb it. Kill everything within. End this.

++++

It will be long and brutal fight, a vicious battle that will leave thousands dead. ISIS has had years to prepare the city’s defense.

Every street will become a fortress and every house a bunker. After seeing terrible fighting in Manbij and Til Tamar, I’m experienced enough to fear the worst. However, what’s never changed is my determination to see this war out and my commitment to the Rojava Revolution. The cause is just and the goals of the revolution are admirable – a secular, democratic awakening in the heart of the Middle East.

It is not shown yet, but the approach in Syria is different than Mosul. I’m pretty sure that much of the force of ISIS was drawn away from Raqqa to Tabqa and killed in the process as waves went there.

And the part not to be talked about is the monitoring of signal intelligence and human activity by drones. Acting on that they have been in process for weeks of surgical strikes on control centers.

Life in Raqqa has been pretty crappy for a while, much suffering. I do not expect this to take as long as Mosul.

It will not be bloodless for SDF, but ISIS will end.
