The Rogue in southern Oregon is 50% more than normal at this time of year at 4,000 cfm, also 15 degrees cooler. Crater lake is still snow bound.

You should really get to Lassen someday. It’s beautiful.

It’s not a dead volcano, and it’s not a live volcano.

It’s a DORMANT volcano.

Lotsa steam and icky smells coming out the top.

Ever been to Lava Beds National Monument/Park?

There’s some really cool cinder cones there, besides the really cool lava tubes.

It’s also the site of the last heathen indian resistance in America. After that, the frontier was officially closed.

I really isn’t supposed to hit the 118 -119 range until Monday/Tuesday. The wind will pick up to 5 to 15 so it will kind of be like living in a beef jerky convection oven.

“Hmmm. We may soon see. Supposed to be in the mid 90’s here in the Truckee Meadows by Monday. The Truckee River is cranking right now and supposedly will be all summer. Pretty sure calibfornia has already dumped YUGE amounts of fresh water into the Pacific to help ward off the melt.”

According to NWS, we will hit 90°F here in SW Reno on Saturday. Saw the Truckee yesterday, and it was roaring! Last week, new snow fell up on Rose!

❄️. Yeah, Peavine had a nice dusting. About 500 ft higher than us. Mt Rose looked mighty frosty on my way to the dermo Monday morning.

Our original plan was the entire volcanic scenic byway, but most of Lassen is still buried, including Bumpass Hell and Lassen Peak. We’re still planning on seeing lava beds and plutos cave, though. Then onto Crater Lake. .
