Me and the wife have been to the movies maybe five times in 35 years. But we are on a roll having seen two movies in the last two years LOL. Sulley and last week Megan Leavey. Leavey was pretty decent but not getting much box office love in terms of ticket sales. To bad, true story of a Bomb sniffing dog and the female handler in Iraq.
You would like “Gangs of New York”, it isn’t at the GF level but is an excellent description of NYC politics, society and history in the 1850s and 60s. And Daniel Day-Lewis is mesmerizing.
Not many female roles after 28 in Hollywierd.
I’ve scanned titles of 8000 movies on primewire. If it looked interesting I read the brief review.
A total of around 25 movies passed muster for a bookmark.
The industry produces garbage.
I’m going to apply the left’s argument for increased teacher pay, because the product will improve. If the actors could all receive about 40% more money, movies would improve.
Same is true with TV commercials, the dumbass male is a staple. I make sure not to buy products which advertise that way.
It really does.
I watch a lot of movies and television shows on AmazonPrime, HULU, and Netflix.
Almost all of it contains filth. Some of it is downright demonic.
I consider myself well grounded, but I wonder what some folks with weak minds must glean from some of the stuff that is out there.
The problem with not watching some of this, is that you don’t really know what is out there. I want to.
The story arcs are pretty depressing, too. Not a lot of happy endings.
Saw Alien: Covenant and while the movie looked great and had good action, the story itself was a big downer. At least it was better than Prometheus, which was incoherent.
Ridley Scott hasn’t done a lot of good since the theatrical release of Blade Runner. Hopefully the Blade Runner sequel will be as poignant as the first iteration (theatrical and director’s cuts).
Charlize Theron is the Atomic Blonde
Of late I have seen about three commercials I find really funny.
The Domino’s track your Pizza commercial, go to Youtube and watch the extended version, it’s a hoot.
Then the Nespresso commercial with George Clooney and Andy Garcia, there again go to YouTube and see the extended version.
Finally the insurance commercial with the guy in the car and everyone is on their cell phones and he is talking about his check he gets every six months for safe driving and the fact he bought a new putter with the money and his wife doesn’t know. It is hilarious.
Thanks DannyTN. I appreciate the mention.
I wasn’t a big fan of the show. It was okay. It just didn’t appeal to me.
Lets face it, most of these shows are brainless time-killers.
I most likely couldn’t brag about what I watched instead.
Roger that. One of the best movie villains ever.
I think back then we only got one channel. I saw a few episodes.
My date suggested it. I tried to steer her to Guardians which I had already seen once, or even the Mummy or Wonder Woman.
But I did enjoy the movie more than the date. After all that skin, I didn’t even get a kiss.
What they fail to grasp is that they are using terrible stories
They believe, despite facts, that they can reprogram society
The human psyche is hard wired to follow natural law. Even atheists have a moral code
Liberals try to change that. They put out stories with contemporary themes attempting to normalize hatred of family, Country, Judeo-Christianity and. Virtuous heroes
These movies have no word of mouth advertisement and no staying power
They are never classics
But liberals keep trying.
Wonder Woman we saw as my 20 year old was/is a devotee of Lynda Carter’s version cheesiness and all
It was a twelve dollar nap.
Cars 3 opens Friday, it’ll make fat cash. And picking on Book of Henry which is an limited release is kind of silly, they made it for $10 million, it’ll probably make a profit, though it’ll also probably take 4 months to do it.
Didn’t mean to imply it was worthless to watch, kind of like a dig. Hope you didn’t take it that way. It wasn’t intended.
As for dating, it’s an expensive exercise these days. You can very easily dump $150.00 with dinner and the movies. I’ve dumped much more.
I expect the other person to be good company. I expect them to at least try to be genial, interested, a contributor (to the conversation), and enjoyable to be around. Even if you don’t see the other person as a possible mate, you can still be nice and contribute to an enjoyable evening.
It’s not a must that they show emotion, but I do want them to be considerate, including to acknowledge they appreciate the costs I’ve been gracious enough to cover.
If you’re dating a woman these days, it can cost you an incredible amount. If you take them out three times per week, imagine the monthly outlay. Some women act as if you owe this to them, so it’s not necessary for them to say thanks. If they don’t, they’re scratched from my dance card. I don’t expect profuse thanks, but a sweet comment can go a long ways.
