Former FBI director James Comey made a quiet visit to The New York Times building on Thursday, one of few public outings since he admitted leaking stories to the newspaper about President Trump before the Senate Intelligence Committee on June 8.
Comey kept his sunglasses on and his gaze forward as he marched through the front entrance of the Times Square office building which houses the publication. He was accompanied by his wife Patrice Failor who also wore sunglasses.
Unmistakable as he towered over the crowds in a crisp navy suit and tie on one of the warmest days of the year, Comey drew second-glances from some stunned by-passers.
He spent almost three hours inside before emerging, having removed his sunglasses, to hail a cab.
It was a timely visit, coming just a few weeks after the president's suggestion that he may be responsible for more leaks about the administration since being fired on May 9.
Comey confessed to being the source of a leak to the Times about private, unorthodox meeting he had with the president before he was fired in June.
The subject of their conversation was former National Security Adviser General Michael Flynn and the FBI's investigation into his ties with Russia.
Comey claimed that during their conversation, the president pressured him to drop the probe and asked him to show his loyalty. Concerned about the nature of their meeting, he recorded details of the meeting in a memo and stored it.
After his firing on May 8, Comey gave details of the memo to 'a friend' at the Times in response to a tweet from the president who threatened: 'Comey better hope that there are no "tapes" of our conversations before he starts leaking to the press!'

EXCLUSIVE - James Comey visits The New York Times building as President Trump admits he did NOT record their conversations and questions what else ousted FBI director leaked to the press

That’s a tough one. I think you said “gay” in there.
Trump trolled Comey big-time with that tapes comment.
Made him tell the truth on the stand.
Pretty damned smart.
Openly conspiring against the President.
1. “I didn’t record Comey”
2. “I don’t have any Comey recordings”
But if instead...
1. dirty COMEY recorded the conversations...
2. and kept them in his OFFICE..
3. and then flew 3,000 miles away to Los Angeles...
4. then got his stuff SEIZED...
5. and custody of the recordings was TRANFERRED to a non-Trump person...
Wouldn’t all that make Trump’s words TRUTHFUL...?
The fact he was leaking documents and got caught tells me this was not a one of event.
Sent the tweet with multiple pictures to Hannity and Sudlowe during their discussion tonight.
I’m betting they find all sorts of intatuff on his computer. This guy is dirty.
Turns out the “tapes” thing was a perfectly executed “sting” gambit and Comey went for it. He revealed he was fundamentally dishonest, willing as are so many other holdovers to commit crimes for their self-appointed righteousness of cause.
Comey deserved to be fired over multiple items. He’s looking after his book deal at this point.
This is far different than what the headline would lead you to think.
If he secretly recorded a private conversation with the President at the White House and then left the building with it, I suspect that would be a major felony.
Birds of a feather...
The article below does not appear to be posted on FR.
It talks about how Comey discussed private conversations with Trump with another friend of Comey’s, Benjamin Wittes, editor-in-chief of the blog Lawfare and former editorial writer for the Washington Post.

I guess he went to NYT to see if they had any fiction writers there.
