The ceremonial transfer of the golden fishing rod

Further to my observations on Deep State dinner theatre, the "Russia investigation" show goes on, undeterred by the lack of any evidence of actual crime: The more obvious the absence of any crime to investigate, the bigger the investigation gets. As I've said before, in Hitchcockian terms, this is a thriller without a MacGuffin: instead, it's one big MacNuffin - unless you count the "collusion" between government bureaucracies and the Hillary campaign in surveilling their political opposition before the election, or FBI honcho Jim Leaky leaking material to The New York Times to get his buddy Bob Mueller appointed as "Special Counsel".

That last one worked - notwithstanding calls for a Special Counsel to investigate the Special Counsel over his ties to the FBI Director who wanted the Special Counsel. This is a very Washington creature-feature: the Blob feasts on nothing. So at the Deep State dinner theatre Mr Mueller is now casting an army of extras. With the usual money-no-object lavishness of the world's premier five-star swamp, the Special Counsel has appointed, to date, 14 lawyers to his "investigation", "with more still to come". In a fascinating column, my old colleague Andrew McCarthy puts this prosecutorial football squad in perspective:

I’ve not seen nor heard anything from Mueller’s “investigation”. If there was anything to it, I’m sure there would have been salacious leaks by now (the media being keen on getting anything on Trump)....

Mueller is still hiring Dem operatives. Once he’s got a few hundred on the staff he’ll be ready to start the persecutions...er...investigations.

Haven't heard any more about DJTs "bluff" taping "claim" either. Maybe the MSM-Democrats figured out that President Trump got the better of them once again.

(HAT TIP Erik Latranyi) This entire Democratic Party paranoia about " Russia hacking" is just a ploy.....to give the federal government control over state elections. Voters demand the logistics of Obama's DHS hacking into state election systems......the same DHS telling us "Russia tried to hack into state election systems".......the same DHS that can “plant” Russian fingerprints after hacking to confuse investigators.

The Obama Admin is on-record, conniving to get federal oversight over state elections. Obama’s henchmen have already probed Georgia’s voter database and probably have some dirty tricks ready to go.

DHS Jeh Johnson's and Obama's unauthorized attempt to breach 2016 electoral data. .... Georgia reported DHS made 10 attempts (to date).

WSJ / FR Posted by bryan999

The secretary of state of Georgia is asking the Department of Homeland Security to explain what appears to be an attempted breach of the state’s computer systems that house its voter registration database by someone in the federal government.

In a letter to Department of Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson dated Thursday, Georgia’s Secretary of State Brian Kemp said the state had discovered an unsuccessful attempt to breach the firewall of state computer systems. The attempt occurred on Nov. 15 and was linked to an IP address associated with DHS, he said.

“At no time has my office agreed to or permitted DHS to conduct penetration testing or security scans of our network,” wrote Mr. Kemp, a Republican. “Moreover, your department has not contacted my office since this unsuccessful incident to alert us of any security event that would require testing or scanning of our network.”

“We are looking into the matter. DHS takes the trust of our public and private sector partners seriously, and we will respond to Secretary Kemp directly,” a spokeswoman for DHS said.

DHS Secy Johnson's $41.2 billion budget did not include "election activities." Taxpayers demand to know where the DHS billions are going.

Obama Administration Plotting to Usurp Control Over Elections

New American ^ | 8/18/16 | Alex Newman / FR Posted by Nachum

Under the guise of providing increased “security” for “critical infrastructure,” the Obama administration is plotting to insert itself and the federal government into the American elections process.

While voting is constitutionally the responsibility of state and local officials, Obama’s Homeland Security Secretary, Jeh Johnson, pointed to the alleged threat of cyberattacks to justify the latest proposed usurpation of power.

The controversial scheme was floated amid growing national concerns, fueled in part by GOP presidential candidate Donald Trump’s warnings of a “rigged” election, that America’s electoral system might be vulnerable to major manipulation. Critics and experts, though, warned that the White House scheming may be a first step toward illegally nationalizing the electoral process — with all the dangers that would entail.

Homeland Security boss Johnson, a leading luminary behind Obama’s illegal amnesty plot, has said repeatedly said in recent weeks that the administration was thinking of issuing a decree declaring elections to be “critical infrastructure” in need of supposed federal oversight and “protection.”

“We should carefully consider whether our election system, our election process is critical infrastructure, like the financial sector, like the power grid,” Johnson told reporters in Washington earlier this month. “There’s a vital national interest in our electoral process.”

In a phone call with state officials, he reiterated those comments, offering “help” with elections. (Excerpt) Read more at thenewamerican.com ...

If you don’t say anything you can’t end up like Martha Stewart or Scooter Libby - refuse to cooperate, take the 5th, suffer Hillary memory loss, whatever - and if any body howls, point out it’s all political kabuki theater anyway.

It takes a lot of time and investigating to make certain the lies you’re going tell can’t be easily exposed. Apparently.

So these clowns are ambulance chasers on a grand scale. And they don’t even have to catch a real ambulance.

They just throw stuff against the wall until something sticks.

I think Mueller knows there is no actual crimes committed, so they will string up as many Trump people with "process crimes" like Scooter Libby...

Thankfully, Trump isn't going to roll up into a fetal position like GWB...

I would like to see the total hours billed x billing rate averaged over 24 hours / 5 day work week and publish it. 15 lawyers working 10 hours at $400/hr (avg) is $60,000 a day, $300,000 a week. I hope the deal is that if they don’t find anything, the participating attorneys are dis-barred from Federal practice for years, if ever.
