It’s increasingly looking like it was the Obama administration who colluded with the Russians to try to entrap the Trump campaign.

The total amount of the complicated scheme was $230M and involved many players. Katsyv is the owner of Prevezon. They could only trace $1.9M through him. That's less than 1% of the total amount in the scam and the fine is 3X the amount gained.

Feds often settle financial cases because they're very complex. The time it takes for trial and detail they go into bores the hell out of and loses the average juror. Fines and sanctions allow them to move on to the next case. That's often misconstrued as corruption or spinelessness.

We are back to stage one...it’s not Russian government involvement, and there’s no hacking theme to this story. Just accusations of money-laundering, which was all created by the Obama Administration...NOT the Trump folks.

Not really. She was working for a rich guy doing anti-Magnitsky act work. On behalf of the Russian government no doubt. You see this public-private mixing of roles in Putinist Russia all the time. It’s how they roll.

The deal should be investigated. Dems think it was settled after preet fired because of trump being a russian stooge. Trump supporters think it was settled after preet fired because it was a payoff

It could be it was just a flimsy case.it was settled just a few days before trial.
Someone needs to look at the details of this deal/case

There is still the possibility that the lawyer was an asset..or they were trying to turn her. This could also explain why she was allowed in under pretext of trial. It would explain how she got involved in the Jr escapade.

Yes.

We would never have learned any of this if Hillary had been elected.

This is why Congress needs to pursue the unmasking issue with Rice, the Lynch/Comey stuff, etc etc etc.

Thanks for the details. Money laundering cases are complex and time consuming...and expensive.
If they could only get 1.9 in the best case scenario.....then the settlement was reasonable

“Maybe the $230 million case was settled for only $6 million in May 2017 because the work of all of these shady characters and their U.S. Justice Department handlers to compromise the Trump campaign last year would have come to light if the case had gone to trial. “

Your reasoning is a lot more logical than the paltry sum the DOJ settled for, if they had the defendants dead to rights.

No, she was given a special circumstance waiver from October 2015 through January 2016 to represent her client. Why and how she was here in June is unknown. She may not have left, after her request for an extension was denied. As for the deal, see 22.

Why do you think they gave her a parole visa instead of just requiring defendant to get another lawyer

No problem. Here's an article about it. Prevezon's part in the scheme is about 11 paragraphs down. Sorry.....I'd post a clickable link, but I'm using my iPhone and that makes it difficult.

You are right. I double-checked. And Trump had to wait to fire Comey until he was out of DC, but not out of the country.

If she overstayed that visa she was likely up to no good

Grassley needs to find out if she entered with fsb supplied docs. Nsa probably knows

Good point.

And DOJ is massive; not necessarily true that everything going on at every level is understood or directed from the top.

That’s because he wasn’t responsible for laundering the entire $230M. See post 22 or the link in 31.

Given details of case the settlement is reasonable.

Lawyer movements still questionable

I still think this was a Russian escapade but question is whether kremlin approved or underlings trying to curry favor with putin. If was from Deep State then putin is going to be looking at possible spies..and lawyer could end up dead

Sure looks like she had a legit reason to go to NY. So it seems strange she was denied a visa to represent her client in New York. Unless she was already known to the IC as a Russian govt proxy and ended up in some espionage database.

Some very odd things going on here.

By a “Russian escapade” you mean you don’t think Obama’s DOJ was setting up the Trumps for a FISA warrant?

Because I think Obama was complicit with Russia, just like he suggested to Medvedev, and that Clinton/Podesta et al. were counting on the Trumps being taken down by the gov because there was no public will to elect HRC.

She wouldn’t be the first. Magnitsky and his family lawyer are already casualties.
