Reports are brain cancer . . . apparently the same kind that felled Ted Kennedy.

I was thinking of the timing - for his grand entrance. It all seemed false to me and a last gasp at hurting his nemesis, President Trump.

He was just reelected last election cycle and knows he has 4+ years to go. I wish there were some way we could recall him.

One thing I just can't understand is how Graham and McCain keep getting re-elected in conservative states like SC and Arizona. Why haven't conservative voters gotten rid of them in the primaries decades ago?

I understand why liberal states get saddled with dud liberal Republicans like Mitt Romney or Chris Christie - that's as far right as you could possible elect in Massachusetts or New Jersey. But there's no excuse for Republicans like Graham or McCain in conservative states where a Republican will safely win the general election regardless.

The only explanation I can think of is a bad combination of voter apathy combined with the power of the party establishment to block out all possible primary opposition to incumbents.

Those states have open primaries. Democrats vote for the rino in the primary knowing that that’s the best they can hope for.

I am an Independent and voted against him once. First in South Carolina most of us know Democrats march in lockstep. Next the Republican Party keeps supporting Graham. A good strong Conservative could beat him but the Republican Party throws to much behind Graham another Republican cannot afford to run. The Democrat Party is so Evil Graham or the Devil himself could not be worse.

You better believe it is all worked out. The Republican party in York County, one of the most influential counties, is run by robots who competitively tow the elite’s line or else they don’t get to play the game of thrones.

I met Lindsey at a private campaign party, and elsewhere. There were 4-6 people circled around him, me the only woman. I asked him a question, twice, and he conspicuously ignored me twice. He has disdain for his constituency, and his secretary in York county follow suit.

I do not like him and yes, they do not run anyone against him in the primary. The one time in the 25 years I’ve lived here that they did, the guy put out a sign two weeks before the primary and was immediately reported as a former white supremacist. If people looked up his political history and accomplishments he could have gotten somewhere.

State politics are still outgrowing the good ol boy syndrome with its under the table politics, but Governors Nikki Haley and Mark Sanford improved government by bringing it closer to the present and cutting down the pay to play, & lying/maligning politics.

Ralph Norman so far is worthy of our support as are many others from SC: Mick Mulvaney, Trey Gowdy, Tim Scott, Jim DeMint, besides Nikki Haley and Mark Sanford.

I actually thought I’d let him know I’m doing that next election.

They found a Democratic contender for DeMint’s last election who was mentally unstable, dissociated or schizophrenic or something obviously wrong with his sense of reality. They could do it again for Lindsey.
