The most trusted news source in the U.S. is The Economist — a weekly magazine published in the U.K., according to a recent survey from the University of Missouri’s Reynolds Journalism Institute.

The second-most reliable is public television, followed by Reuters and BBC. Two U.S. nonprofit outlets, NPR and PBS, came in at fifth and sixth, while the U.K.’s The Guardian clinched the seventh spot. The U.S.-based Wall Street Journal, Los Angeles Times and Dallas Morning News rounded out the top 10 trusted names in journalism.

Stinking mountain of hammered meadow muffins.

Did you see the bias of the sample?

The survey also showed that politically liberal respondents were more trusting than conservatives...

Gee...I wonder why?

Not surprising when you look at who they polled. Heavy on liberals, low on conservatives.

The fact that they list “Trump” (mind you, NOT “President Trump”) as a source clearly indicates their bias.

I also would have thought, after the last election, that no one on Planet Earth would EVER believe anything in a poll again - particularly a poll from the leftist media.

One of the old men with good Kung fu I idolized as a kid used to flip his old copies of The Economist to me and tell me I had to come up with 10 good trades. He swore every edition had 10 good ideas, all you had to do was spot them.

Now? It’s a lapdog for George Soros.

LOL! Who paid for this survey, The Economist or PBS? ;)

Seriously, the percentage of people who read The Economist must be extremely small.

If I were to hazard a guess, I would say among older people and certainly travelers, USA Today would rank high. Among younger people, Reddit, 4chan and other alternatives, Internet-based media would be right up there.

From the comments at the page...

"The results were based on a survey of more than 8,000 people conducted by 28 media organizations in the U.S. Participation was voluntary but respondents tended to reside near the news outlets that made the questionnaire available on their websites, and leaned toward the liberal side of the political spectrum."

So, this article should be called "List of News Sources that LIBERALS Trust the Least and the Most ..." conducted by 28 (mostly liberal) news organizations.

Bang.

10 ring.

When 47% of your sample self-identifies as liberal or very liberal...

which could be a reflection of the specific newsrooms participating in the current investigation, a tendency to among conservatives to avoid surveys conducted by “the media,” or a general preference among conservatives toward less mainstrean news sources.

...what do you expect?

My guess is that 92% of the American people have no idea the Economist exist and maybe 2% are equipped to read the Economist.
