No Longer Sanctuary City, Miami to Receive DOJ Grant

Miami announced Friday it will receive a government grant because it has ended its sanctuary city policy.

The Hill reported Acting Assistant Attorney General Alan Hanson sent Miami-Dade County Mayor Carlos Gimenez a letter that said the city is now eligible for Department of Justice grants based on its enforcement of federal immigration laws.

The website cited a memo Gimenez then sent to the Miami Board of County Commissioners as saying the city will receive $481,347 in Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant Program (JAG) grants.

Miami-Dade County commissioners voted in February to uphold the city's decision to enforce federal immigration laws. It is the only U.S. county in which half of the population was born outside of the U.S.

President Donald Trump praised Gimenez in January for his anti-sanctuary city stance, calling it the "right decision."

Several U.S. cities and jurisdictions act as sanctuary cities and have become havens for illegal immigrants to live and work. The Trump administration has promised to withhold federal grant money from these jurisdictions until they drop their sanctuary city policies.

They got the message.

I bet the people who jumped through all of the hoops to become permanent residents or citizens—legally—are more than happy with this.

Don’t forget that there are probably 30 million illegals to deport.

I don’t think we’re even into six digits yet.

Slow, slow, slow, slow.

Definitely winning! :)

The Trump administration has promised to withhold federal grant money from these jurisdictions until they drop their sanctuary city policies.

As well the administration should. Why would a city be eligible for federal $$$ if it can't obey federal laws

“Why would a city be eligible for federal $$$ if it can’t obey federal laws “

More to the point, why would any city be given ANY federal money for any purpose? These Federal “handouts” need to be stopped cold. All they do is feed some unneeded bureaucracy that is set up to “oversee” the handouts which should never have been handed out in the first place.

"....Slow, slow, slow, slow...."

Unfortunately, it is the nature of the beast. Can't deport the entire 30 million en masse. It has to be done one illegal at a time.

It's what we get for letting the problem fester and grow so much over the years.

“Unfortunately, it is the nature of the beast. Can’t deport the entire 30 million en masse. It has to be done one illegal at a time.”

We should have 500 guarded groups of a hundred illegals walking to the Mexican border at all times. As soon as one arrives, another one heads south.

Any illegals that don’t want to walk to the border, guarded by men on horseback with shotguns, can make a run for a border or an airport before they are caught.

In your dreams buddy. Bar talk. Get real. You have no real grasp of what the logistics of something like your fantasy would even entail.

Shoulda', coulda', woulda' but can't. Famous last words.

Perfectly workable, at a fraction of the cost of flying the criminals.

Your post reminds me of Bonhoeffer’s comparison of stupidity with malice.

Your post reminds me that pigs can't really fly, even though some people think they have wings.

Perfectly workable in your mind only but in reality, not so much.

You really attempted a come-back?
