Great story. The imagery in that song sold it, but I didn’t realize until reading this that it really is that short and simply structured. I wouldn’t add a note or a word to it.

The Wichita Lineman is Gentle on My Mind ... perhaps I should go visit Galveston to remember him.

I am 52 and used to watch his TV program as a kid. It was not until I started playing the guitar about ten years ago that I realized how awesome Mr. Campbell was on the guitar.

Don’t know if he could read music, if not it wouldn’t surprise me. Do know he was one of a group of studio musicians known as the wrecking crew, who did sessions for hoards of musicians, including the Beach Boys.

Right you are, Jerry was an excellent player. My favorite was Glen and a guy named John Hartford, one of a few who could actually keep up with Glen...along with Jerry and Roy Clark...

This ole Arkie was sorry to hear this. What a career- hit after hit, and getting to make a movie with The Duke.

Wasn’t anything he couldn’t play, and usually better than anyone else. Just last night I watched a YouTube video of him playing “Classical Gas” - with a full orchestra. I think Mason Williams would be the first to agree he took it to a new level.

Thanks Glen Campbell and RIP.

I am not a big fan, and I've known for some time that this was coming, but it's still a shock. Love him or not, the boy could play.

Let me just quote Rooster Cogburn: "Why is it, every time you need a Texican, he's dead?"
