Matt McGrath, a spokesman for Mayor Rahm Emanuel, confirmed the city will take responsibility for the $279 million itself, even though it has its own gap of nearly $200 million, including the cost of hiring new police.
"I'm sure we will" come up with those funds, he said. But "no details" are available today.

Democrats are the most destructive force in America.
Duncan previously served as CEO of the Chicago Public Schools from 2001 to 2009
And this is where Obama goes to pick his Sec of Education for the US. I guess it’s because of his skill at managing their finances.
CPS = Chicago Public Schools
Nowhere do they say they will consolidate schools, streamline operations, etc. “Just send money”, just like the kids in college who want to party on.
The American taxpayers must not bailout the Chicago failures. Let them find funds from the many sports venues, or perhaps fire some of the six figure city hall employees and earmark those salaries to CPS.
You know what they need? More illegal aliens and refugees. That will fix them up.

Squandering taxpayer money is a Democrat resume builder
Public schools turn young white males into feminine, servile cucks
willing to accept domination/rule from inferior minority races.
I always found it curious that Obama looked to the worst public school system in the country, a failing system, and selected their CEO to head the federal Department of Education. And no one said a word.
And he was immediately confirmed by the Senate.
“schools chief Forrest Claypool said. “Let no one forget the single most important part of this debate: ensuring that all students have the resources to get the education they deserve.””
What an effing lie! It’s about paying for worthless teachers past and present. The CPS students haven’t been getting “the education they deserve” for generations.
“The American taxpayers must not bailout the Chicago failures. Let them find funds from the many sports venues, or perhaps fire some of the six figure city hall employees and earmark those salaries to CPS.”
Let me help you! The City of Chicago, The Chicago Public Schools and Cook County all need to declare bankruptcy. There is no way, short of a complete bankruptcy, that Chicago can be fixed. I don’t think for one minute that Trump will give it a dime of bailout money.
If the school system happens to hires someone to clean it up, that person gets drummed into the woodwork.
I was thinking Child Protective Services till I read the article.
I wonder how many CPS employees (including janitors and other support staff) are paid > $100k?
And of course these @$$holes sprung this on the taxpayers a week before school starts so now it’s a crisis that has to be resolved immediately without debate or consideration for any alternatives.
Here in NJ ALL of the public school systems cost a bundle of money; the teachers’ unions have reduced residents to serfs working away for the public school teacher caste. Whether you rent or own, you are just renting from the teachers’ unions...
“CPS = Chicago Public Schools”
Thank you. :)
