WASHINGTON One lazy, sultry afternoon in 1947, two years after America helped trounce the Nazis, my father arrived at our familys modest summer house on the Severn River near the Naval Academy.
He had come from his job as a police detective in D.C., still wearing his suit and his service revolver.
Get your shoes on and come with me, he told my 10-year-old brother, Martin, his Irish lilt edged with a steel that caused his son to scramble. I have something to do and I want you to see it.
The town, Herald Harbor, Md., had its share of old country hicks, as Martin called them. It had been founded in 1924 by The Washington Herald, a newspaper owned by William Randolph Hearst. The Herald gave one of the first cottages to Margaret Gorman, a vivacious curly-haired 5-foot-1 Washington teenager who had gone to Atlantic City in 1921, sponsored by the paper, and won a beauty pageant. She was crowned The Most Beautiful Bathing Girl in America and awarded the Golden Mermaid trophy. The next year, she competed again and won a new title. She became the first Miss America.

That dried up old manhater is supporting a domestic terrorist organization. ...only a few more to go.
Formally recognize AntiFa as a terrorist organization
My, she is a dull person to listen to after a while. I have no doubt John Lott would destroy her in a head to head debate about Trump’s remarks, as he demonstrated in a recent piece, were a far cry from “buoying the Klan”.
A dollar to a donut, her father would have voted for trump

Thank you - so much - for following the MoDo rule.
Racism is evil. And those who cause violence in its name are criminals and thugs, including the KKK, neo-Nazis, white supremacists, and other hate groups that are repugnant to everything we hold dear as Americans.
This article is vapid journalstic flatulence.
Yes, and no doubt that Jackie Robinson would be able to tell MoDo all sorts of wonderful stories about the US Armed Forces and racial tolerance that the Dems supported and encouraged back then (do I actually need to indicate the sarc?).
Pseudo-intellectual liberal elitists at the Times write EVERYTHING in the manner of a long drawn-out novel. It's as though they're more about trying to impress their readers with their writing ability and vocabulary than anything else. However, their articles are great if you're suffering from insomnia.
The article makes no sense. They provide no facts and just assume the reader share their prejudice and bias against Donald Trump. Just more dog whistle from the NY Slimes.
Spencer is a media plant. When no one followed the nobody, they had to find someone semi-legit guy. That’s Kessler. Kessler has to be a DNC plant.
All of these Nazis were generated by the DNC to attack Trump voters and increase sagging DNC fundraising.
came for the pics and this is all there was ?
I recall reading in Professor Lott’s book “The Bias Against Guns” in which he discusses the media’s portrayal of certain issues pertaining to guns and gun control. One was the Times making a (false) assertion about the rise in mass public shootings in recent years. When he contacted the writers of the article that made that statement, all he got were silly excuses and that they did not have the time to fully check out their statistics pertaining to such a thing. Certainly none of this is surprising, but your comment made me think of something like that.
