Australia’s decision to support the U.S. in any possible future military conflict with North Korea has been called a “suicidal act” by Pyongyang. The official North Korea news agency KCNA noted that the Australian Prime Minister, Malcolm Turnbull, had vowed his country’s military would fight alongside the U.S. if the latter was attacked by North Korea.
As Breitbart News reported, Mr. Turnbull made his call earlier this month after North Korea threatened a nuclear attack against the strategic American territory of Guam in the Pacific. He told an Australian radio network, “America stands by its allies, including Australia of course, and we stand by the United States.
“So be very, very clear on that. If there’s an attack on the US, the ANZUS Treaty would be invoked and Australia would come to the aid of the United States, as America would come to our aid if we were attacked.”
The ANZUS Treaty binds the U.S., Australia and New Zealand together in a defense pact covering military matters in the Pacific Ocean region. It provides that an armed attack on any of the three parties would be dangerous to the others, and that each should act to meet the common threat.

What exactly would the NORKS do? Their Air Force and Navy would be destroyed in a couple of days. The only people that need to worry are in Seoul. If little fat boy launched a nuke at us or one of our allies, is there any doubt that an Ohio class sub would turn them into glass within minutes?
Part of me thinks that we ought to be playing to Kim’s potential political opposition in North Korea. We should make it clear that if he persists in being a madman we will first target him as we did Bin Laden. If they want North Korea to come out of that unscathed then they need to either stand down when we come for him, or remove him from leadership themselves.
If they do those things, and abandon their nuke program, we will hold the new leadership as in good standing with the US, unless they commit human rights violations. I’m confident that there are a ton of generals in North Korea who don’t want to be a target of the US, and who would rather lose Kim as their leader than to lose their lives and put their families at risk from war.

I somewhat agree with you, but we are capable of killing Kim ourselves. With that said, can you imagine the fake news screaming for impeachment if that happened under Trump, while Obama removed leaders from Libya and Egypt without so much as a peep from the press?

Real Australian combat soldiers have gone everywhere we have gone. Australia has given its sons in every conflict that we have been involved in.
That means everything. We owe Australia and we will defend Australia in whatever way necessary. North Korea’s threats are indeed suicidal for North Korea.
